Peace of Christ Parish’s 4 Elementary Schools Alumni Room
The Alumni Room continues to hold the full archive of our parish school. Display cases, classroom bulletin boards, and window bookcases contain memorabilia, class pictures, yearbooks, class histories, activity photos from teachers (100’s unidentified), slide shows, plaques , and much more --- all available for easy viewing by appointment or at the Open House in the fall of each year --- or at the time of your class reunion.
Two special additions received this past year for St. John the Evangelist was the complete collection of full size class pictures (with names) and First Communion classes to 1960. This joins the more recent class pictures and albums already available. The room now holds a very complete archive of all 4 schools. The collections still need to have a comprehensive inventory prepared for easy material look up.

The Alumni Room was also the site of the 2nd Annual Alumni Reunion Open House held on September 28, 2014. The 35 attendees were treated to tours of St. James and St. Ambrose (St. John Neumann) schools along with viewing the archive and school histories. School supplies were donated and presented to the school. Refreshments were available and several alumni attending took advantage and held mini-class reunions and toured together. Great fun!
The 2015 3rd Annual Alumni Reunion Open House will be held on September 27th. Save the day! The day will start with Mass at St. Ambrose Church at 9:45 AM. The Mass will be said with the intention of the deceased alumni from the 4 schools and the open house in the Alumni Room will follow till 4 O’clock. Tours will be available.

St. John Neumann School Alumni News
Jackie Senecal began serving as principal at St. John Neumann School on January 1, 2015 succeeding retired principal Marie Arcuri. She came to the Diocese from the Central School District where she served in a variety of roles including summer school assistant principal and coordinator of the district’s International Baccalaureate program. She has also chaired the district’s Spanish departments for the last 14 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from SUNY Buffalo and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Nazareth College.
Unfortunately based on the result of the 2015-16 school registration, it was announced by the parish and the diocese that the 6th Grade will not be continued after this year. St. John Neumann will become a Pre-k to 5 in the 2015-16 school year.
Grotto Garden Care by Alumni Volunteers Continues
The grounds of the Grotto between St. John Neumann School and Dailey Hall have been maintained by alumni volunteers since 2013. This year the spring clean up continues in preparation for the May Day Crowning of Mary and flower planting by the scholars.
Alumni Could Sponsor a Class or Program
The Advancement Committee of St. John Neumann is looking to give the Alumni the opportunity to sponsor a class or a program. This could be done in a number of ways such as: acting as a mentor, contributing for materials, listening to kids read, adopting the science or music program, etc. - things that would reconnect our alumni with the school, and at the same time help the school and the kids.
Tuition Assistance and Scholarship Support from Alumni Always Welcomed
Thank you to all the alumni who as parishioners support the remaining parish school, St. John Neumann, through their generous monthly School Support envelope and the strong support of the Knights of Columbus fundraising activities. The catholic school education provided is a very important urban ministry of the Peace of Christ parish. This school is the only city catholic school east of the Genesee River. It is not free to families like the city public school option but its affordability is increased through tuition assistance and scholarships offered to our scholars in need. More is always needed. The alumni of all of our schools can be a very important component through their contributions in recognition of their own catholic education and lifelong benefit.
Attention to ALL alumni, parishioners and non-parishioners, in Rochester or elsewhere -- this is a new tax year! As you plan your yearly donations to non-profits and being watchful of future developments in NYS Education Tax Credit opportunities, please keep in mind St. John Neumann School and its mission of providing a quality education to those who wish to attend but may not be financially able. Any help is greatly appreciated by the scholars of St. John Neumann School. Checks are payable to Peace of Christ Parish – SJN. A scholarship fund can be found on Go Fund Me at: .
