Reunion weekend is here again! All alumni from the 4 elementary schools of Peace of Christ Parish: St. John the Evangelist, St. Ambrose, St. James, and St. John Neumann are invited back!
Saturday September 27th is open for individual class reunions. On Sunday September 28th all alumni will have the opportunity to start the day at the 9:45 AM Mass at St. Ambrose Church celebrated by Fr. Bob Schrader, Pastor. The Mass will be said for the intention of the deceased alumnus(ae) from the 4 parish schools. The Coffee Hour after the Mass at St. Ambrose is optional and is not be part of the day's official activity.
The Alumni Day will continue from 1 to 5 PM with the alumni gathering in Dailey Hall on the St. Ambrose Church campus to enjoy the company of fellow alumni and reminisce the “good old days”. Alumni attending are asked to bring any school supply item(s) for our St. John Neumann students.
The Alumni Room will be open from 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM and you can visit and peruse the vast archives of the 4 schools on display. Special tour groups will be formed for those interested in tours of St. Ambrose (now St. John Neumann) and St. James Schools from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Refreshments will be available at the gathering area at Dailey Hall and will include selected drinks, chips, and small cookies. Please RSVP at alumni.poc@gmail.com. It would be greatly appreciated. See you there! Visit our alumni web page at:

Alumni News has gone "MailChimp"
As you can readily see from this email, our Elementary School Alumni News is being published through MailChimp.com. This email based marketing tool allows for short, fast turn around - and free for our volume (<2,500). The first 3 issues of our newsletter were sent at 6 months intervals (Winter/Summer) and can be found on our alumni web site. Those 1st class/bulk USPS mailings served our Alumni Association start up well in validating 1700 alumni addresses. They got the word out about the Alumni Association but at a cost no longer affordable. Thus the change to an email service. In addition, the association has joined the 4 elementary schools and their FaceBook world. The links to the 4 can be found on the alumni web site.
Alumni volunteers clean up the Grotto
The St. John Neumann Grotto was put into great shape for the May Crowning thanks to our alumni volunteers' major work on the April Peace of Christ Outreach Day. The 6th grade class of Melissa Clark spent some time in late May finishing the weeding and then planted flowers around Mary's statue for the May crowning. The alumni is expected to continue the upkeep in early September. Volunteers needed!
6th Graders Receive Alumni T-shirts
23 6th grader St. John Neumann graduates were welcomed into the Alumni at a reception on June 10th in the alumni Room with ice cream sundaes. Each new alumnus received their Alumni Class of 2014 T-shirt and reviewed some photo memorabilia of their teachers.
Facebook links to the schools
The Alumni web page on the parish web site now links to Facebook pages for St. Ambrose, St. John the Evangelist and St. James schools. St. Ambrose has 52 members, St. John the Evangelist has 132, and St. James leads the group with 340 members. Also linked on the site is the St. James class of 1961. each site contains many scanned photos, school remembrances and postings/comments.
Alumni Could Sponsor a Class or Program
The Advancement Committee of St. John Neumann is looking to give the Alumni the opportunity to sponsor a class or a program. This could be done in a number of ways such as. acting as a mentor, contributing for materials, listening to kids read, adopting the science or music program, etc. - things that would reconnect our alumni with the school, and at the same time help the school and the kids.
School Benefit at GEVA, "Late Night Catechism", on Saturday November 8th.
