Dear brothers and sisters,

The NTA's Spring Meeting is just around the corner!  At 9:30 on Saturday March 7, delegates, clergy and visitors are warmly invited to St. Paul's UCC in Marlin Texas for fellowship, worship, important business, an inspiring guest speaker, and a delicious lunch, followed by ecclesiastical councils.  Thanks to your increased financial commitment to the NTA and individual donations, Rev. Dr. Robert A. Hunt, SMU Professor of Christian Mission and Director for SMU's Center for Evangelism and Missional Church Studies, will come and speak with us about Mission and Evangelism in a modern context --  a pertinent topic for any church!  We are also blessed to welcome visitors from two congregations considering affiliation with the UCC, and one congregation seeking to reconnect.  Please RSVP by March 1st!  For directions, details, and how to RSVP, please see  the Official Call to Meeting which was emailed earlier. Also, remember that you may drop your mission kits at the meeting if you do not wish to transport them to New Orleans.  (See sidebar below or conference website for more information.)

Then, from March 13-15, four of our NTA churches will be hosting 3 students and one faculty member (Rev. John Thomas - former general minister and president of the UCC!) from Chicago Theological Seminary.  Our host churches will have the pleasure of hosting and hearing one of these future pastoral leaders preach.  Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS) is one of 3 UCC seminaries, commonly referred to as CUE Seminaries (Chicago Theological Seminary, United Theological Seminary, and Eden Theological Seminary).  Through the donations of individuals, over 2,000 UCC congregations, and conferences like the South Central Conference to CUE, together we prepare strong future leaders for the United Church of Christ.

Masters Workshop Camp in Robinson Texas is still taking applications for their position of Site Manager.  For more information about the position, please contact Ronnie Durham or see the NTA website.

Last but not least, I am beyond excited that, all  -- yes ALL! --of our NTA churches paid their association dues for 2014!  I know it's Lent, but can I get an Alleluia?!?!!!  Also, for the first time in memory we had a handful of donations front individuals and 2 of our 3 church starts!  Our longterm treasurer Alice Miller cannot recall a time when we have had such broad support of the NTA!  Because of your financial commitment to our covenantal life together, we will be able to host CUE seminarians, send Members in Discernment to a gathering at the National Office in Cleveland, help fund psychological evaluations for candidates for ministry, and bring in a renowned speaker for our Spring Meeting.  On behalf of the NTA, I want to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support of our work together!

Peace be with you,
Rev. Anna Kreisle Humble
Association Minister

Seven families from Central Congregational Church in Dallas were blessed to welcome Ugandan choir students and their teachers from Asante Ministries International into their homes after their concert in church on February 1st.  Most of these students have been orphaned, but are receiving food, lodging, education, the love of caring teachers through Asante Ministries.
For Ash Wednesday, NTA members from First Congregational UCC Fort Worth and from Cathedral of Hope Mid-Cities UCC gathered outside at First Congregational's labyrinth to begin the season of Lent together.  Members walked the labyrinth, burned paper of what they needed to let go of this Lent, read scripture, and shared music.  What a meaningful way for UCC brothers and sisters to come together!
The members of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald celebrated Valentines day for a Valentine's Day banquet.  The event was filled with lovebirds, sweet treats, and even some door prizes.  Here are a few of the winners!
