NTA News Update
May 2015

[Please Copy and Paste the update below into your congregation's newsletter!]

Dear brothers and sisters,

Happy Eastertide!  I pray that you and your church family have been celebrating resurrection these past weeks!  There is plenty signs of new life to celebrate in the NTA as well.

First, camping season is fast approaching again, and our NTA camp, the Master's Workshop, is preparing 3 faith-centered camps for campers from 1st through 12th grade.  Master's Workshop is seeking campers, volunteers, and your donations to support campers in need.  (See the article below or their website for more information.)

Next month, many of us will be traveling to New Orleans to attend the South Central Conference annual meeting.  If you have not yet registered, the deadline is May 1st and rooms are filling quickly!

NTA Committees are also hard at work.  The Committee on Ministry will be receiving documentation for candidates until May 26th for the June 13th meeting.  The Executive Committee is also busy at work planning for the hiring of our next association minister.  (For more information about the position and how to apply, see below and the NTA website.)

May 1st, registration will open for the 2015 UCC Southern Regional Women's Conference retreat October 16-18, 2015, at Sumatanga Conference Center in Gallant, Alabama.  This promises to be a great opportunity for UCC women to retreat, connect, and worship.  This year's theme is "Lord of the Dance."  Stay tuned for more information.

Sadly, my last day is June 7th, but you won't be rid of me that easy; I will be volunteering to teach another online iteration of UCC History and Polity beginning July 20th!  Contact me to register!

I'm treasuring these last days here with you in the NTA, praying for us all in the transition time, and looking to the risen Christ for the new life our faith promises will follow each ending.

Peace be with you,
Rev. Anna Kreisle Humble

The North Texas Association is seeking a part time Association Minister to liaison with Association churches, be present at Association meetings, and assist the SCC Conference Minister in pastoral matters within the Association.  Applicants must hold ordained clergy standing in the UCC.  Total remuneration: $6,000 minus most travel expenses.  A complete job description is available on the NTA website.  Address all inquiries to Rev. Scott Spence, President of the North Texas Association, by email, or phone 919-265-8902. Applications -- to include resume and statement indicating reasons for seeking the position -- must be submitted by August 1st.

Master's Workshop Camp Update

Camping season is upon us again!  Did you know that the NTA has our own camp?  Outside of Waco, in Robinson, Texas, is the Master's Workshop Camp.  This summer, they are leading 3 faith-centered camp sessions.  The "Leaders of Tomorrow" camp starts Sunday July 5th and is for campers who have completed 7th - 12th grade.  the Young Seeker's Camp will be held July 12th -15th for campers who have completed 1st - 3rd grade.  And the Discoverer's Camp will be held July 9th - 24th for campers who have completed the 4th - 6th grade.  Learn more and register online by visiting the
Master's Workshop Website.  Last year, 2/3 of the campers needed financial assistance to attend camp.  The Rev. Frank H. Horak, Jr. Scholarship Fund is available to provide assistance by paying one half of the camper's registration fee, but many campers also need sponsorship to help cover the balance.  To help either with the scholarships or sponsorships, you or your church may make checks out to The Master's Workshop Camp Advisory Board and mail to Barbara Forcher at 1485 West Roy Dr. Robinson, Tx 76706.
