The AGM was held on Sunday, September 6th. Thank you to all that attended. Despite COVID, we had a great turn out with everyone respecting the rules around masks and physical distancing.
The Board gave updates on our financials, Trustee lands, Roads & Maintenance, upcoming projects, and more. Councilor Doug Elmslie was our guest speaker and he answered many questions and heard comments from the community. The call for nominations to the Board was also held and the Directors have been elected.
You can read the Minutes of that meeting, and any past meeting, on the SPA Archives page.

Our community has once again shown the love!
THANKS to everyone who generously donated this year. Although donations were down this year, we've raised $4,950.00 that will go towards the following projects:
new Sturgeon Point signs at the entrances (Gray Rd. & Sandy Point Rd. and Sturgeon Point Rd. just before Irene Ave.),
more furniture at the Public Beach and Upper Wharf, and
new swim ropes at the Public Beach.
Remember that our Fiscal Year is December 1 - November 30, so any donations received after December 1 will not receive a tax receipt for the 2020 tax year. Your receipt will be issued the for the following tax year.
Tax receipts are issued by the City of Kawartha Lakes throughout February and March.
A few words from the Union Church
2nd ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
MONDAY OCTOBER 12, 10AM TO NOON
As you clean out your cupboards for the winter, bring non-perishable food (pasta, sauce, beans, crackers, cereal…) and toiletries to the church. Larry Thomas will collect them and deliver them to the food bank. Cash/cheques also welcome!
DONATIONS
With our doors closed for the 2020 season, the collection bowls tucked away in their cupboards, we are looking to other means of revenue for the church and for the community charities which count on our annual donations. If you are able to help, please consider sending an e-transfer to treasurer@sturgeonpointchurch.ca, or dropping off a cheque/cash to Sturgeon Point Union Church, ℅ Jeanne Crighton at 43 Irene Avenue.
Sturgeon Point Golf Club Fundraiser
Everyone's revenues are down this year and SPGC is no different. Our little golf course is a gem in the Kawarthas for golfers. To help offset the lost revenue due to, yep, COVID they are having a raffle on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12th.
Check out some of the prizes that are up for grabs:
Sturgeon Point is a unique community with lots to offer - swimming, sailing, golfing, a historical church, lots of family fun and events that serve to unite the community.
Keeping our community safe, beautiful and fun is a labour of love!
Volunteers are an important part of the success in the community and participation goes a long way to help events run smoothly. Volunteering also gives you a chance to connect and find out more about the people and places at Sturgeon Point. When you give your time, you also help save on operating costs for a non-profit organization such as SPA.
We are looking for YOUR support to give back to the very spaces and events that you, your family and friends all enjoy.
Whether you sign up for something small like cleaning up the park in the Spring so the kids can use the playground, or step up for something more involved such as being a Board Member on a committee, your commitment to the community and a willingness to work for the betterment of Sturgeon Point will be appreciated!
Feel free to put forward the names of those in your household that you know will be willing to pitch in for any of the groups (Church, Golf Course, Sailing Club and SPA). Your info will be passed along accordingly.
Please take a moment to email SPA at spa@sturgeonpoint.com to be added to the list of volunteers on-call.
