Support Cooking Circles with lunch at
Grill'd, Manuka

We’ve been selected to participate in Local Matters at Grill’d Manuka this May!
Local Matters is the Grill’d community donation program that sees each Grill’d restaurant donate $500 back into the community every month. The donation is split between 3 local community groups $300 / $100 / $100.

How Can You Help?

We’d love your support in receiving the highest $300 donation! Simply head to Grill’d Manuka during May for a burger and pop your Local Matters token in our jar. The group with the most tokens at the end of the month receives the largest donation.
It’s a simple (and delicious) way to show your support!
You’ll find us on a jar at Grill’d Manuka, 40 Franklin St

Have a project in need of community support?

Go online to Grill'd Local Matters and fill out a short application (it only takes about 15 minutes and I found the questions straight forward) or drop into a store and pick up a form there.
Buy a burger (or two) from Grill'd to get your token, then vote for Cooking Circles this May!
Share your burger and token on Instagram by tagging @cookingcirclesheidi and Twitter @HeidiZajac

Alisa's Cooking Circles a Success!

In April, Alisa held her second Cooking Circle, this time in her home. There were 9 of us joining her to mix gnocci, sip wine, and explore the threads that connected each of us together. Cooking Circles' first memorabilia was on display too, with pretty bunting handmade in Scotland.

We ended the night with some invigorating discussion about Timor Leste after Sarah had recently visited for a holiday, and left, stunned and inspired. A delightful and heartfelt night Alisa - thank you!

You can follow Alisa and her brilliant work with the This Is Not a Wife Beater campaign at

The support doesn't stop at burgers.

Over the coming months Cooking Circles is pitching ideas in several various grant rounds.
  • An Australian young women's exchange to Timor Leste
  • A Timorese women's internship program in Australian businesses and NGO's
  • Timorese Oral History Project
I'd love to hear from you. If you have ideas about what else we could do to make a difference to the lives of women in Timor Leste and Canberra, send your ideas to me at (note new email address)

Meet Jacqueline Evans

Cooking Circles spoke to small business owner and natural health champion, Jacqueline Evans. You canm read the full interview at

Thanks for sitting down to speak to Cooking Circles this month. I reached out to you because I related to your feel-good newsletters targeting women and their wellbeing. You run a business, Jacqueline Evans Skin Care that is built on some core principles of health and wellbeing. Can you tell me a bit about that?

Absolute please Heidi. I am thrilled to be here. My background in nutrition and naturopathy led me in a round about way over many years to creating a line of natural skin care. I believe that skin care should be based on science, nature and common sense.
