Is it Spring yet?

Hello Friends,

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather we have had recently! I can't wait to hear bird songs and see native wildflowers bloom. What is your favorite part of spring?

We are well on our way to a successful Spring semester of in-school Mountain SOL classes with
Morgantown Learning Academy (MLA) students. We have learned about the Monarch butterflies and their habitat as well as common animal tracks and trails. Now we are partnering with MLA's physical education teacher, Ms. Amber, to introduce the students to archery.

Our afterschool students are enjoying their time outdoors. The Mallards and Jaguares had fun in the cold and snowy weather and are anxiously anticipating the arrival of Spring. We are still enrolling students in the Mountain Mayflies and Free-Range Fitness afterschool programs this semester. Free-Range Fitness will be starting on March 31. Visit our website to learn more about these programs.

We are very excited to announce our partnership with MLA to incorporate Mountain SOL workshops into their summer camp.

Mountain SOL is offering 10 weeks of Summer Workshops at Morgantown Learning Academy! Students don't need to be signed up for MLA's Summer Camp to attend Mountain SOL workshops but students enrolled in MLA's Camp receive discounts on Mountain SOL workshops.

  • Workshops will run weekly, June 8 - Aug. 13
  • Monday through Thursday
  • 12:30 - 3:30p
  • Sign up for multiple weeks and receive discount pricing!

Visit our website to view descriptions of our summer workshops.

We are also excited to announce Community Workshops planned for April. Please scroll to the bottom of this email to find our workshop schedule. I hope to see you at one of our workshops!

That's all for now. Why don't you take a break from work and step outside to enjoy the fresh air?

See you in the woods!

With your help, we raised over $1,100 for the MLA Garden!
In Our Backyards, Inc. (ioby) partnered with us to match up to $500 from our most recent fundraising campaign. Learn more about our upcoming garden projects on our campaign page.
Let's learn about
Monarch butterflies!

Thanks to Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! we are able to participate in the Monarch Sister Schools program and teach students about the importance of Monarch butterflies.
Biodiversity Advocates for the Mountains
This semester's focus is on biodiversity. Our Biodiversity Advocates for the Mountains (BAM!) will teach students proper survey techniques for finding and identifying the wild things that live on MLA's land lab as well as Coopers Rock State Forest.
