Let's Walk a Mile

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Let's Walk a Mile event in Inverness on the 3rd of September which took place at the same time as  See Me Scotland's event in Edinburgh. Thanks to them and Chris Young for their support and inspiration. We had a good turnout of staff, service users, volunteers, other organisations, and the general public, all with the common goal of talking about mental health and stopping stigma. Visit our blog for photos and a video of the event.

Belladrum Festival

Birchwood Highland and Aspire 2 Be were at Belladrum Festival raising awareness of what we do and spreading the word about ending mental health stigma. We had a great response from people who were interested in finding out more and showing their support. Take a look at this video of the day by James Williams.

Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival

We'll be premiering a short film about Birchwood Highland made by Film Intern, James Williams, on the 1st of October on the launch of SMHAFF Highland. Click here for the flyer for the event. This has been filmed over the summer months and features staff and service users experiences, views and how we operate as a charity.

Service users of Birchwood Highland will be participating in the performance Nine Lives Theory at Eden Court on the 7th of October with subsequent shows on the 8th and 9th in Invergordon and Alness.

Finally there will be night of live music at Eden Court on Friday 16th of October as part of our Music is Life project. This project is led by Birchwood Highland Ambassador Steve Robertson, who will be guiding service users through several workshops in setting up a live gig with local musicians. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information on the gig as it develops!

Volunteering

Thank you so much to the Lifescan volunteers for all their efforts at the Recovery Centre lately! They've done an amazing job painting, decorating and landscaping.

We also have a quiz coming up on the 2nd of October and would love you to come along and join in the fun! It'll be at the lovely Torvean Golf Club for a £20 donation per team. Test your knowledge and win some great prizes! Click here for the flyer.

Mad Hatters Wanted!

Would you like to throw a Mad Hatter's Tea Party for Birchwood Highland? We'd like people to dress us up this Halloween in aid of mental health! Consider getting some friends together, or some work colleagues, and have a mad tea party.
