Who's up for a Challenge?
Fancy doing something exceptional, seeing beautiful scenery and raising
money for our amazing charity at the same time? Join us on our trek in the foothills of the Himalayas!

We've teamed up with local travel company Spirit World Adventure to create Trek In The Footsteps Of The Dalai Lama.
Our adventure takes us to Dharamsala in the Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Lying on a spur of the Dhauladhar range in the Pir Panjal region of the Outer Himalayas, it commands majestic views of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges above and the Kangra Valley below. The valley is a wide, fertile plain, criss-crossed by low hills, while Dhauladhar means “white ridge” and this breathtaking, snow-capped range rises to a height of 5,200
metres (17,000 feet) above the homes, farms and rivers below.

Our challenge begins in Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan Community are based, at the heart of the world’s highest mountain range. We have time to spend in this fascinating town before we set off on foot to explore the region.

Our 5-day trek takes us through the Kingdom of Gaddi, home to a semi nomadic race which spends months wandering the high passes
with their cattle. With spectacular views of the Dhauladhar mountain range, our guides take us through huge rhododendron forests, passing
Hindu settlements, Buddhist monasteries and stunning sights along the way.

To round off this amazing challenge, we have some free time to marvel at the incomparable Taj Mahal – one of the world’s greatest monuments to love ever built, and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
To register your interest in the trek, email pauline.burnett@birchwoodhighland.org.uk.

The trip costs £300 to register, then you commit to raising £3000 to cover the costs with the remainder going to Birchwood Highland.
