Birchwood at Belladrum!
Birchwood Highland will be at this year's Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival this weekend with this beautiful heart! It will become the repository for the Highlands' hopes, dreams, loves and wishes as we'll be asking everyone to add a lovelock or cloot to the structure over the course of the festival.

The heart will be the largest piece of public art in the Highlands for years and we aim for it to be a positive, inspirational symbol. 1 in 4 of us will experience mental ill health each year, so it's an issue close to all of our hearts. Birchwood Highland's Big Belladrum Heart has been produced in partnership with Joe Gibbs and the great team at Belladrum Festival, created by the fabulously skilled crew at Serimax in Evanton, using material from Grampian Steel in Oldmeldrum and engineering expertise from Fairhurst in Inverness. Thank you guys!

Follow along with updates from the festival on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. If you'd like to support us, but can't make the festival this year, you are welcome to donate via our website.

Here's a video on Facebook of the heart being moved from Serimax to the festival site by Bannerman Transport. With almost 6000 views so far, we're really pleased with the level of interest and support the project is getting!

Let's Walk Another Mile

Here we are at another ‪#LetsWalkaMile‬ event, this time at Muirtown Basin on the 25th of July! With these walks in the Highlands, we hope to join in a movement of Let's Walk a Mile events all across the UK with the aim of bringing people together to talk about mental ill health.

Mental ill health is very common and affects 1 in 4 people in the UK every year. It's time to break down the stigma so that we can support each other. Find out more about Let's Walk a Mile here and see a BBC interview featuring Birchwood's network manager, Paulina Duncan, on Facebook

Linsey Celebrates Double Decade

This week sees Linsey Sinclair, Staff Nurse, celebrate 20 years at leading Highland mental health charity, Birchwood Highland.

As part of the charity’s team at Birchwood Highland’s Recovery Centre, Linsey has seen many changes to the provision of support in mental health down the years. Birchwood Highland works to the Recovery model at the Recovery Centre. The only facility of its kind in Scotland, it is home to up to 23 people who are supported to lead rewarding, fulfilling lives, even if their symptoms persist.

Speaking at a party thrown by residents and staff at the Recovery Centre, Linsey said: “As well as the staff here, it’s the people we support that have kept the job interesting, challenging and fun. They mean so much to me and I can’t believe I’ve reached the twenty year mark already!”

Charity Golf Day

Run for Birchwood

We're looking for charity runners in this year's Loch Ness Marathon and Baxters Festival of Running. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself while raising valuable funds to help us in our work to support people with mental ill health in the Highlands. If you're inspired to run the marathon, a 10K or a 5K, please email for information.
