Ryan Street Mural Project
My Great Neighbourhood Grant
Awesome job on August 28th by community members Elaina, D'Ann, and artist Carey Newman! With the support of a My Great Neighbourhood Grant from the City of Victoria, these folks worked together with Oaklands Elementary students to design and create a chalk mural on the yellow line on either side of the crosswalk at Ryan and Forbes.
Too often, cars park on this yellow line blocking site lines to the crosswalk that students use everyday to get to and from school. Before it rains, go take a look at the mural! What do you think, can you see this becoming a permanent mural!?
The animals depicted in the mural are the same animals chosen by the students at Oaklands Elementary and artist, Carey Newman for the totem currently being carved in the school courtyard.
Applications for the City of Victoria's My Great Neighbourhood Grants are open September 1 - October 15th! Do you have an idea for a community project? Get the details here.
Calling all Artists!
The City of Victoria has just launched it's artist roster. This roster will be used by businesses and community groups to find artists who are interested in contributing to the amazing public art across the city. If you are an artist, make sure to apply to be on the roster before October 30, 2019. Get all the details here.
