Chemical Highlight: Diamite™ CAL

Diamite CAL™ is an aqueous formulation of chelating agents specifically designed to dissolve calcium sulfate scales (gypsum as dihydrate, anhydrite as anhydrous and hemi hydrate forms) that are commonly found in aqueous systems, such as reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, cooling towers, ion exchange, boiler and distribution systems. It is also effective in dissolving strontium sulfate and calcium fluoride scales, and dislodging and suspending barium sulfate crystals that are embedded in the calcium or strontium sulfate matrix. On an equal weight basis, the active ingredients in Diamite CAL™ will dissolve several times more scales and more rapidly than the most commonly used chelating and solubilizing agents. May 15, 2017: King Lee presents an overview of the uses of various proprietary chemicals in a reverse osmosis system from pretreatment to cleaning. Topics covered were on clean-in-place systems and general guidelines, as well as how to select the appropriate pretreatment and fine-tune the dosage. Some general troubleshooting techniques were reviewed with information on how normalization software can make that easier. Presentations will be up on our website soon in our webinar series. Let us know if there is a topic you would like clarification on and we can add it to our series.

SWMOA'S Newest Board Director, King Lee Technologies' Jessica Boynton 

Jessica graduated with her Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of California, Davis.  She continued with research in nanoparticles, then quickly carried her expertise into the water industry. With a special interest in potable reuse and desalination, her role with King Lee Technologies in water treatment chemicals is a natural fit. Jessica uses her experience in chemistry, business relations, and design to contribute broadly to the team – from R&D support to business development and marketing. Jessica is the Product Manager for King Lee Technologies’ new web-based system performance diagnostic tool, iWaterPRO™, and strengthens King Lee’s high standard of customer support for reverse osmosis chemical needs across the Americas.

King Lee's New Webinar Series

Watch Session 1: Introduction to a Reverse Osmosis Membrane System

Since its foundation in 1977 in San Diego, King Lee Technologies has been the leader in reverse osmosis membrane performance technology. During this webinar series, King Lee Technologies will walk participants through RO system basics, pretreatment, and membrane cleaning along with a brief overview of the equipment. We will present a new cutting-edge system performance diagnostic tool, iWaterPROTM, that helps users stay ahead of problems common to their system. We will discuss potential membrane plant challenges and how to troubleshoot them.



Do you have biofouling in your system and you aren’t sure of it's source? King Lee offers membrane studies that include an autopsy with foulant analysis and along with that we have a method of testing called BART which identifies the type of bacteria causing your biofouling so that you can get a better idea where it is coming from. Bacterial Activity Reaction Testing, or BART (TM Hach Company), is a method used to qualitatively determine the presence of certain bacteria in membrane foulants. This test can show the existence of iron-related bacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria, and slime-forming bacteria. If organic or biological fouling is suspected, a BART is usually recommended to determine the appropriate chemical to follow-up with, in addition to standard cleaning products.
