Sunday Sharing 16 Nov 2014

Unparalleled Rewards

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

I pray this sharing finds you well and your families, after 3 weeks there’s so much to share specially on unparalleled rewards.

“BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE LEARNED TO ACCLAIM YOU, WHO WALK IN THE LIGHT OF YOUR PRESENCE, O LORD” Psalm 89:15

The last 3 weeks had been most challenging and a test of faith…together with several volunteers, our team overcame obstacles after another as Container for Jesus CFJ16 was finally filled and shipped out ready to bless a multitude of needy people. Moreover, it will bless more than 1500 street children & orphans with Shoeboxes for Jesus gifts this Christmas, to ensure these kids can attend school next term. In Singapore, close to 500 shoeboxes were filled and donated to bless Haiyan kids. These sacrifices with much love, time, money and donations will soon reach them & reap unparalleled rewards!

“I HAVE SAID THIS TO YOU, THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THIS WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TRIBULATION; BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.” John16:33

We praise God for His supernatural interventions and He showed us that we need to approach problems (troubles) with a light touch with Him as the problem solver and not us. Please scroll below for our newsletter update on the ministries The Lord recruited us to do. We are to bring a problem to God when it starts to overshadow our thoughts and take the matter to Jesus, talk it over with Him, invite God to be involved and take over…allowing Him to let us see the picture in His perspective and not ours. We were totally was surprised at the outcome, even laughed at ourselves…only then we can see the unparalleled rewards of faith!

“FEAR NOT, AND BE NOT BE DISMAYED AT THIS GREAT MULTITUDE; FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS BUT GOD’S.”2 Chronicles 20:15

“Let go and let God” as the saying goes…but this is not easy to do. As we prepare to travel for BFJ’s next mission in 10 days, we expect to meet strong opposition as usual but we seek your prayers and support while we serve the least of our brothers in the slums, the homeless affected areas one year after Haiyan and the regular ministries we support such as prisoners, street kids, homes for aged and orphans…an experience we pray you will have one day…so worth the time and return home for you withunparalleled rewards money cannot buy!

“WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT.”  2 Corinthians 5:7

ONE YEAR AFTER HAIYAN (YOLANDA)

While the world has forgotten, most of these kids are still homeless, orphans and hungry...please pray for the victims of this catastrophic disaster who are barely surviving...grappling from worst poverty for more than a million rendered homeless.

Please help us help the helpless in your own small or big way...pray also for us as we leave for BFJ's next mission this month to comfort, help and love them.

"The rich help the poor in this world, but the poor help the rich in the world to come." Ambrose, a 4th century bishop commenting on the parable of the rich fool who tore down his barns to build bigger ones to store his goods. said: The bosoms of the poor, the houses of widows, the mouths of children are the barns which last forever. The true treasure which lasts is the treasure stored up for us in heaven. God richly rewards those who give generously from the heart to help those in need."

Michael's Article On SFJs

Published in Perth's Catholic e-newspaper

Thousands of shoeboxes filled with supplies to assist students with their education will be delivered to typhoon Hiayan affected youth and children in the Philipines, thanks to an initiative by Perth based charity organisation, Buckets for Jesus.

It’s been nearly a year since Typhoon Haiyan wreaked havoc and destruction to the Visayas region of the Philippines. The typhoon killed many and left thousands more homeless.

The catastrophe summoned a massive worldwide aid, with military, medical, and government personnel as well as thousands of charities and missionaries from all over the world touching down in Tacloban to bring relief and aid to the devastated city.

While education is free of charge in the Philippines, Buckets For Jesus co-ordinator Ruby Soh said many families live in extremely poor conditions.

“Many children don’t go to school because they can’t afford school supplies, never mind one meal a day. Hence, the objective of “Shoeboxes for Jesus” is to ensure they are in school next term.”

Mrs Soh went on to explain that the Shoeboxes for Jesus campaign started following the initiative of Nedlands mothers Raewyn Carter and Sherita Rodrigo, who were touched by the plight of children in Buckets For Jesus mission photos.

Mrs Carter and her sons had previous experience when they were living in Houston, Texas.

“Every Christmas the boys packed shoeboxes for homeless men with basic essentials. I thought it was a great idea and something the children could do for people less fortunate.”

Mrs Soh detailed that the main aim of the Shoeboxes For Jesus project is to supply the street children with their educational needs. Mandatory items for each shoebox were school supplies such as a notebook and stationary. Other items placed in shoeboxes varied, from clothes, toys and hygiene supplies.

Last year, the target of 1,000 Shoeboxes was supplied and distributed at an annual Christmas party for street children in the province.

The project is taking place once again with the aim of doubling last year’s amount. To date, more than 1,500 Shoeboxes have been packed with other donations into the sea container to be shipped to Cebu.
