Hello brainXchange members,
We are excited to share with you some updates and knowledge exchange opportunities:

brainXchange Announces New Leadership

This year marks the 11th year of service for brainXchange and it will prove to be a significant year full of exciting change: we are pleased to welcome Lisa Salapatek and Dr. Dallas Seitz as the new Co-leads of brainXchange. Lisa and Dallas bring a diverse and extensive breadth of knowledge and experience to our team.

Dr. Dallas Seitz is a well respected geriatric psychiatrist and Associate Professor at Queen's University and Chair of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at Queen’s. Dr. Seitz is also a clinician at Providence Care, in Kingston ON. Dallas brings extensive experience in the field of geriatric mental health and research and is well connected to the many innovations and initiatives related to advancing dementia and mental health services in Ontario including his role as the Provincial Medical Lead for Dementia Capacity Planning at Cancer Care Ontario. Dr. Seitz is also the President of the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry. Lisa Salapatek is the Chief Program and Public Policy Officer at the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.  Lisa is an accomplished leader with over 16 years of experience working in community-based health organizations including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.  With a strong focus on innovation and operational excellence, her expertise includes strategic planning, cross-functional leadership, marketing and analytics.

David Harvey and Dr. Ken Le Clair have been instrumental leaders and truly the engineers of brainXchange and our previous sister organizations of CDRAKE and the AKE. We will miss their ongoing leadership, dedication, passion and humour. Fortunately, David and Ken have both agreed to continue on as key advisors and friends to brainXchange. We wish them the very best in their redirection and thank them for their time, passion and commitment to our team and the people we serve.

As we continue to strive to improve the quality of life for persons with or at risk of having brain-health needs related to aging, brainXchange is well-positioned to be innovative and supportive leaders – providing a network that creates and strengthens partnerships, fosters the exchange of ideas and information and supports new learning.  Dallas and Lisa share this vision for the future of brainXchange and we are all looking forward to exciting years ahead!
