Hello brainXchange members,
We are excited to share with you some updates and knowledge exchange opportunities:
Time for action is now! Developing Ontario’s Dementia Strategy: A Discussion Paper
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has released their Dementia Strategy discussion document, Developing Ontario’s Dementia Strategy: A Discussion Paper, outlining what was heard during the first phase of consultations as well as potential recommendations for change.
This paper is available now for public feedback! We need your help as we continue to work toward a strong Dementia Strategy for Ontario.
To build a Dementia Strategy that is truly responsive to the challenges and needs of people living with, and caring for people living with dementia, we need as many people as are willing to make their voices heard.
The time for action is now! Learn more about how you can have a positive impact and participate in discussions on this important health issue. www.actionfordementia.ca
November is Fall Prevention Month

Older adults are a vital part of families and communities. Falling can lead to depression, mobility problems, loss of independence and death. But falls in older adults are predictable and preventable. There are many organizations and individuals working hard to increase awareness of the issue and encourage action to prevent falls and injuries from falls.
The Partners for Fall Prevention Month are declaring November to be a month where organizations coordinate their efforts to prevent falls and injuries from falls in older adults. We have produced a Toolkit of resources to help you successfully organize a fall prevention initiative for November. Our website offers space to promote the good work you are doing. We will follow up with participating organizations after the campaign so we can report collectively on our impact.
If you work with older adults, we want you to join us in promoting Fall Prevention Month. Organize at least one fall prevention initiative for the month of November. Initiatives can be big or small. Launch a social media campaign, host a webinar, run an exercise class, do staff training, hang posters, offer home safety checks, evaluate your current fall prevention practices – everything helps!
