The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) recently released the results of the Ausplay survey – a large scale national population tracking survey funded and led by the ASC. This is great news for the sport sector, as there has been a lack of up-to-date national participation data since the release of the ABS Sport and Recreation: A Statistical Overview, Australia in 2012 and the ASC’s Participation in Exercise, Recreation and Sport (ERASS) in 2010.

From leading cultural change, to education and training initiatives, all the way to improving recruitment and building female friendly facilities, the Victorian State Government are showcasing projects and essential information to help make a change.
This initiative includes the toolkit Guidelines for the recruitment and retention of women in leadership roles which was prepared by Vicsport in collaboration with Lynne Sheehan Consulting, HR Advice Online and Sportspeople.
The first round of VicHealth’s new-look Active Club Grants will offer more sport opportunities for women and girls, and social or modified sport programs across the state, through $400,000 in funding to get people moving in fun, flexible and social environments.
Want to make an impact on the health of Victorian Sport? Vicsport is searching for a Healthy Choices Program Coordinator to support State Sporting Organisations and the Regional Sports Assemblies by guiding and supporting the implementation of Healthy Choices and Water projects, supported by VicHealth.
As Vicsport’s preferred provider of club volunteer training, Leisure Networks has facilitated over 40 club development workshops in the past 12 months across Melbourne and Geelong for eight different local government authorities and five state sporting organisations. Sessions have covered areas including Grant Writing, Finance, Governance, Social Media, Gender Equity and Respectful Relationships, Club Planning, Leadership and Volunteer Management.
