Thanks to everyone who responded to yesterday's bulletin. We're glad the information was beneficial. Someone asked if the information could be forward to church boards and bookkeepers. Absolutely! If it can help your leaders during this season, we want you to share it.

We know there is a tremendous amount of information being shared online right now. The information in today's bulletin will pertain particularly to finances, administration, and Kechnie Group Benefits.

 
Kechnie Benefits

In an effort to assist our credential holders and churches at this time, premiums will not be charged for Health, Dental & Vision benefits for the month of April.  This represents approximately 70% of the monthly premium.  Read the details information release here.
 
Kechnie Benefits has provided information on various aspects of the Plan, including the EI Sub sickness benefit and retaining benefits while on temporary lay-off. That information can be found here.

T3010 – Charity Information Return
 Canada Revenue Agency has recently announced that it has extended the T3010 filing deadline to December 31, 2020. 

 
Electronic Donations to Churches

 Here are several options for individuals to electronically donate to your church:
 
CANADA HELPS
All Canadian charities are already registered with CanadaHelps and can receive donations for your church. You can set your church up to receive direct deposits to your bank account, so you are not waiting for funds to be received by cheque.  You can set up one or more funds for individuals to donate to, i.e. general fund, building fund, etc.  Donors can contribute recurring or one-time amounts.  An income tax receipt will be sent by email directly to the donor.  The church does not issue receipts for giving received through CanadaHelps.

You will receive an email from CanadaHelps when a donation has been made to the church, and a second email will be received when the funds have been deposited to the church’s bank account.  You will be able to download a PDF report with deposit details for bookkeeping purposes. 

Additionally, we reached out to Canada Helps and spoke to a gentleman named Dennis who is happy to help our churches get registered. You can reach Dennis at 1-877-755-1595, extension 2506.

Every church should know about CanadaHelps! It’s a simple way to receive online donations. And, you’re already set-up to receive funds automatically! Simply share the link to your church's Canada Helps profile. By registering with CanadaHelps in a more significant way you will save some service fees, have better access to donations tracking and be able to set up electronic funds transfers.

E-TRANSFERS
Individual donors can send funds to the church via E-transfers.  The church can sign up for E-transfers via a basic online banking platform or a commercial banking platform.  Check with your bank for instructions on setting this up.  

Upon receiving an E-transfer, the church should receive information on the donor (RBC includes the name on the individual’s bank account).  This information will be needed for your income tax receipt records.

 
TITHE.LY
Another option is the
 Tithe.ly online giving platform. Some of our churches currently have this in place.  
 
PLANNING CENTER
Planning Center Giving uses Stripe as the payment processer and has been recommended as a good online giving platform.

CHARITABLE IMPACT
Similar to CanadaHelps, churches can find their own profile and link to it on their website or social media immediately.  Charitable Impact processes the donation and sends the net funds to the church (or direct deposit) and also processes the tax receipt for the donor.

PAOC Payroll Program
If your church is struggling to get cheques ready for payroll due to trying to arrange for two signatures, etc. the PAOC Payroll Program continues to be available. Temporary Wage Subsidy 
To assist employers during this time, Canada Revenue Agency is offering a temporary wage subsidy for all charity and non-profit organization employers, by allowing the employer to reduce the amount of the payroll deductions required to be remitted to CRA.  Details can be found at Temporary Wage Subsidy

Information on efforts being taken by the Government of Canada to assist with the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic can be found at

Click Here for information on the newly announced Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). This taxable benefit would provide $2,000 a month for up to four months for workers who lose their income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
