Judge the 2018 Passionate Plume Finalists

After a big increase in the number of entries, our fabulous team of judges is hard at work on the preliminary round. We’ll announce the finalists in mid-May.

Didn’t have a chance to sign up to judge the preliminary round? Don't worry! We could still use some members to help us judge the final round of entries! If you’re a published author, you can judge up to three of our finalists’ titles to help decide the winners. Click here for the form.

We’ll announce the winners of the 2018 Passionate Plume at the Passionate Ink Party on July 18, 2018, at the RWA National Conference in Denver. We’ll also list results in Passionate Ink's newsletter and on the website, and publish them in the Romance Writer's Report.

For more information about the Passionate Plume, contact the contest coordinator at plume@passionateink.org.

Workshops Update: Director Needed

We had a great April workshop, but we need your help to offer more courses!

Thanks to Amy Alessio, our Passionate Ink VP, for teaching our April workshop on Developing Social Media Skills and Live Programming! We hosted 17 students eager to learn how to connect with fans and build a reader base in a rapidly changing market. The group learned a ton, and Amy was an amazing source of information.

But in order to offer more courses like these, we’ll need help from PI member volunteers. Interested in the Workshops Director role? You can even share the duties with a friend. Please reach out with any questions. Training is available!

Pitch Your Work to Agents and Editors

CONGRATULATIONS to our pitching authors! Here are the results of our pitching sessions for the year so far:

  • Riverdale Avenue Books: 10 pitches submitted, 3 submissions requested, 3 maybes, and 1 trilogy in contract! Woohoo!
  • Changeling Press: 2 pitches, 2 submissions requested
  • eXtasy Books: This pitching session started May 7. Stay tuned!
Haven’t had time for much writing lately? Tsk tsk! We’ve got a great lineup for more pitches later this year, so there’s no time to waste. Grab this opportunity to bypass the general “submissions@” line by the cojones (as firmly or as gently as you like ;). Get in front of eager and relevant industry-leading agents and editors. You might just see your book on the digital (or print) bookshelves!

Not a member of PI? Click here to join. Members, get all the details and see the full calendar in our member forums. You can also track the latest upcoming pitch events here in our monthly newsletter, or via regular announcements in our blog.

Upcoming pitch sessions:
  • Changeling Press: August (first half)
  • Dreamspinner Press: August (second half)
  • Entangled Publishing: September
