Hi Passionate Inkers,

Happy January!

Is there warm weather where you're at? We're currently in the middle of a blizzard here in the Heartland. I can’t wait for summer.

How are you? Are you optimistic and planning for the year—travels, book signings, conferences—or do you feel a little gun-shy about the continuing Covid-19 situation?

The board is working on some fun stuff to brighten this year. We are putting together the Passionate Plume contest, some great workshops, and monthly Happy Hour meetings to talk with fellow PI members. I highly encourage you to attend Happy Hour via Zoom. These get-togethers will give all of us introverts a chance to meet other introverts and you extroverts, too! Plus, you can imbibe any adult beverage you want! #winning

A new year is a great opportunity to ask you what kinds of classes or speakers you are interested in. Maybe you recently took a class that you think would benefit your fellow PI members—if so, please let us know and we can look into having them teach a workshop. And if you haven't taken a class about a particular subject that interests you, please make a suggestion! Contact us HERE.

As always, happy writing and I hope you are selling lots of books!

Thank you for keeping the naughty in romance alive.

Critical Lens
Writing outside of your personal, generational, or cultural experience can be a treacherous road to travel for today's author.  Even with the best intentions, it's easy to create problematic or harmful content when you're unaware of what you don't know. Learn how to use literary criticism to view your work through an alternative lens.  By using literary frameworks, you can gain insight into alternative perspectives that can help you identify and eliminate problematic and harmful content before you publish.

The Redemption book cover

I had a knack for getting people to open up during photo shoots. But when Bronwyn stepped in front of my camera, I felt like an amateur.

Her essence was a collage of beauty, power, and femininity.

Convinced I could make her mine, I pushed for more, but got shot down. The blow struck my ego but destroyed my heart.

Then, I took another look at her proofs. It was unmistakable. We had something.

If it was the last thing I ever did, I would capture a lot more than her photograph. I was going to capture her heart.

Be My Burly Bartender

By Barbra Campbell
Release Date: February 4, 2021

The Redemption book cover

When the marketing manager of my bar effectively turned me into a piece of meat by having women pay to pose with me, I went along with it. Turning the profits into a charity fundraiser calendar was the way I consoled myself that I was more than eye candy.

Then Alena walked in the door and her curves were the only ones I wanted tucked against my body ever again. Could I convince her I wasn't an arrogant jerk who wanted nothing more than to feed my ego?

The Redemption book cover

People say you can tell a lot about a person by their name. My name is Chastity. Their assumptions about me would only be partially correct.

A shy nature and lack of experience played into my name perfectly. My thoughts and who they were directed at were a different story.

My best friend and I had been inseparable through our childhood and teens. We did everything together, celebrated triumphs, consoled failures, and shared our deepest secrets, except for one.

Stupid Cupid struck me with an arrow for the worst possible person on the planet… her dad!
