14th Anniversary of ‘June 12’ Elections

 

The June 12th Democracy Movement has organized a tribute session with the theme ‘June 12 Movement and The Hope of Equitable Restructuring for Nigeria’ to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Elections widely believed to have been won by MKO Abiola of SDP.

Otodo Gbame Victims Buried – Justice is Still Denied

 

Those forcefully evicted from the Otodo Gbame community on April 19, 2017 who were brutally murdered by the policemen attached to the Lagos Task Force have been buried.

The forceful eviction led to the displacement of over 30,000 #OtodoGbame residents and deaths of Aya Daniel and Avonda Elijah. The murders was reported to the police but no arrest has been made.

The Nigerian Slum/Informal Settlement Federation has demanded for swift action by the Nigerian Police Force to bring their killers to book and see that justice is done.

Class Action: Unmetered Customers & Estimated Billing

 

 

Following the failure of the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies to meter their customers and halt inflated estimated billing, a Lagos-based consumer rights lawyer, Olumide Babalola, has filed a class action law suit at the Lagos State High Court on behalf of unmetered customers.

The suit comes up for hearing on Friday, July 14, 2017.

#ElectionWatch: Benue State Local Government Elections

 

Benue State citizens went to the polls on Saturday, June 3rd to elect new council officials who will steer the affairs in 23 local council areas for the next three years. 8 political parties participated in the electoral process and the All Progressive Congress (APC) won all the chairmanship positions in all the local governments.

Local Government elections in Jigawa, Kebbi & Lagos states, gubernatorial elections & 2019 elections are around the corner – have you registered to vote??
