#OpenNASS: 2017 Budget

The long awaited 2017 Appropriation Bill was passed yesterday, May 11th, by the National Assembly. The budget was increased by N143 billion to a total of N7.441 trillion from the N7.298 trillion presented by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Also, the National Assembly has FINALLY made public the details of its 2017 budget after four years of continuous advocacy with the #OpenNASS campaign and seven years of opacity.

This is a major achievement for Nigerian citizens acting in the Office of the Citizen!!

#HopeEndures: 82 Faces of Hope!

Of the 195 Chibok girls in Boko Haram captivity, 82 were released on Saturday, May 6, 2017.  This was the outcome of negotiations between the Federal Government and Boko Haram. President Muhammadu Buhari hosted the girls at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Sunday, May 7th and he described the release of the girls as his 2nd anniversary gift to Nigerians.

Lugguwa Samuel, daughter of Mrs Rebecca Samuel who is pictured above, was among the girls released. We are excited that she will no longer cry about her daughter and we look forward to the same joy for the remaining 113 parents.
