FY 2016 is off to a great start

The first six months of fiscal year 2016 is looking positive for U Market! As of the second quarter, U Market spend increased 25%+ over the second quarter of FY15. Year to date, spend is up 32% from FY15 at the same time.

The number of orders, order lines, and invoices are up only modestly. The large spend increase is primarily due to more suppliers implementing quote capability for large orders.

The number of individual users has increased 9% over last year and PCard spend with U Market suppliers decreased 22% from the previous period. This is good news, and reflects recognition of 
U Market as the most cost-effective and efficient purchasing process at the University.

When you order through U Market, your order is filled by your local Home Depot store. If you do not see what you need in inventory, call the Pro Service Desk and identify yourself as a University of Minnesota customer. They will be able to help you. If you prefer in-store pickup, simply go to the MRO or Pro Service Desk with the Special Services Customer Invoice that you receive by email after placing your order. If your local store does not have an MRO or Pro Service Desk, go to Customer Service.

Q: R&D Systems used to be a punchout on U Market. What made you take them off?

A: R&D Systems no longer wished to have their own punchout on U Market and wanted to sell to us through distribution only. This worked well for the University, because Fisher Scientific now sells products from R&D Systems with a discount structure and free freight, whereas R&D Systems had sold to us at list price plus freight.
