Hail fellow WCYR members and NaNoWriMoers!
Welcome to National Novel Writing Month! Well, almost. It's the day before -- All Hallows' Eve, Allhallowe'en, Halloween!
I don't think there could be a better metaphor for the start of what we're about to embark upon. Because over the next 30 days we'll be conjuring up the ghosts of literature's past, looking like zombies (sleep deprived and too busy for laundry), and devouring sacks full of candy in an attempt to stave off starvation while we peck away at that last 200 words.
But fear not! We're in this together. NaNoWriMo is wonderful adventure of writing and self-discovery that can push both you and your writing in directions you never thought possible. The goal for us as a group, and also the goal of this letter, is to act as a support while we write our way through November. So without further delay, let's look at some first steps.
Until next time, write-on brave WriMoers.
Sign up for NaNoWriMo
To start, if you haven't already done so, you'll want to sign up at NaNoWriMo.org. It's free, and it will be a website you can use to track your progress, connect with more like minded writers, and find great support tools.
Once you sign up, add me as a writing buddy (just search RCRwriter or email@example.com). I've seen other WCYR members floating around NaNoWriMo.org so I'd encourage you to also search for them.
You've probably already thought about what you want to write about or maybe you're going into NaNo fresh, but whatever your tactic, it's never a bad idea to get inspired first.
Below you'll find some fantastic resources to help you get started.
