Comprehensive Bridging Program- Admissions is NOW OPEN

We are now accepting applications for our 10 month Comprehensive Bridging Program.   
If you are an internationally educated physiotherapist and are interested in joining the 10-month Comprehensive Bridging Program starting next April 2017, Admissions is now open! Please visit our updated website for new details about next year's program.


Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.  You can find out more about our Admissions and Application process in this newsletter and on our website. 

Information Session

This is a free Information Session and a great opportunity to learn more about the bridging program and meet faculty, staff and alumni. If you are interested, please fill out the registration form so we have an idea of number of attendees. Online Application Process

The first step to applying for the 10 month Comprehensive Bridging Program is completing the online application form.   

Before you fill out the online application form please gather the following:
  • Proof of Ontario residency 
  • Proof of Canadian status
  • Document verifying the language requirement is met (see important information below) 
  • Document verifying the prerequisite course has been completed (see important information below)
  • Current resume

Admission Assessment

Admission Assessments will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 & Sunday, February 26, 2017  
Please note if the numbers of participants exceeds capacity for Saturday and Sunday, then Friday, February 24, 2017 will be opened for assessments.

The Admission Assessment is a mandatory part of the application process for the comprehensive bridging program.  If you pass Stage 1 of the application process, you may be offered one of the Admission Assessment dates. To be considered for the bridging program, you must attend the assessment in person at the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Ave, Toronto, ON Canada. Please note that these dates are the only opportunity to be assessed for the program.

The Admission Assessment is a competency-based assessment designed to assess your current physical therapy knowledge, clinical reasoning, physical therapy practice skills and practice readiness. 

The Admission Assessment is a full day consisting of 4 parts:
  • Practical Assessment (OSCE) 
  • Multiple Choice Question exam (MCQ) 
  • Mini Multiple Interviews (MMI) 
  • Written Assessment

Program staff will use the Admission Assessment results to determine if your learning needs can be addressed through the Comprehensive Bridging Program.

Admission Requirements include:

Language Requirements:

The language requirement is a mandatory component of the application process. You must submit either an IELTS Academic  or TOEFL test score that meets our minimum requirements in order to gain entry to the program. There are only 2 acceptable language tests, IELTS or TOEFL. Visit our website for minimum language requirements.

If you do not meet the minimum requirements, you must be registered for a test date BEFORE February 24, 2017 to be eligible to attend the Admission Assessment. If this is the case, please register as soon as possible as testing centres may book up 4-6 weeks in advance. Expired Academic level IELTS or TOEFL may be considered.

You will be exempt from the language requirement only if you were educated in a predominantly English speaking country (i.e. Australia,UK, USA, New Zealand) where the language of instruction, examination and clinical placements were ALL in English.

Prerequisite Course Requirements: Physical Therapy and the Canadian Health Care System course

A course related to the Context of Physiotherapy Practice in Canada approved by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators may also be accepted as verification that the prerequisite is met.

You must provide proof of completion (e.g. certificate, letter)

MCQ Exam Skills Preparation Workshop:

There are still a few spots left in this very popular 1 day workshop held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 9 am- 5 pm. This workshop will help prepare you for the Written Component of the PCE in December 2016. In addition to exam strategies objectives, you will be completing practice multiple choice questions on a computer-based platform.

Physical Therapy and the Canadian Health Care System online course:

We are now accepting registration for the online course Physical Therapy and the Canadian Health Care System. This online course takes place over 6 weeks and is facilitated by instructors who are experienced in online learning and physical therapy practice in Canada.

The next session starts January 19, 2017 - March 3, 2017. This course is approved by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators to satisfy the gaps in Context of Physiotherapy Practice in Canada.
