In worship this Sunday, we'll give our pledges for Light the Fire, a campaign to support our 2015 and 2016 general budget and mortgage payments.

These past Sundays you've heard several leaders at Chalice talk about why they financially support Chalice and why our ministries matter. You'll hear from another this coming Sunday. You've heard some from me, too.

But you really need to hear this: Chalice is a crazy place--in a good way. Not surprisingly, I talk about Chalice often. With friends. With colleagues. With acquaintances. With all sorts of random people. And I regularly find myself saying things like, "Oh, yeah, my church would be fine with that." Or, "No, we don't have those sorts of fights." Or, "Yeah, that's not a big deal at all for my church."

Those responses come in response to all sorts of questions and comments. Ask me some time if you want to hear. More importantly, those responses point to what we know is true: there is already a beautifully burning fire at Chalice. This community matters to us, and to the broader community, and in the reign of God. Through us and with us, the reign of God draws nearer all the time.

This Sunday, let us bring our gifts that celebrate that fire in our midst.

The 2014 Regional Assembly is coming up on October 24-25! All ages are invited to attend. Registration forms are available at church. Turn in your form and registration money to the office and we'll get them where they need to go. Make checks payable to Chalice Christian Church. Oh, yeah, you need the forms and other info. It's all here!

Also, you are invited to participate in the All Assembly Choir on Friday evening. If you would like to participate, let David Gale at FCC Tucson know today.
Finally! We're ready to order new t-shirts! Here's a picture of how they'll look. The cost is $18, payable to Chalice Christian Church. An order form will be available on Sunday. Children's sizes are available and adult sizes small through 4XL. Order sooner rather than later because that just makes everyone's life easier. (We'll be taking orders well into October, but seriously, sooner makes things easier!)

Keep in mind these outreach opportunities:

Bring your change and drop in the gray buckets this Sunday for the Pastor's Fund. Change collected allows Rev. Abigail to meet immediate financial needs for people within the congregation and our community.

If you'd like to come to help with Food Distribution at the Chandler Christian Community Center on Friday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m., let Rev. Abigail know. If you can push a grocery cart, you can help! Kids of all ages are welcome.

The Outreach Team will be gathering soon. If you'd like to participate in planning the outreach opportunities for Chalice, you're invited! Stay tune for a date and time.
