The eSojourner

Chalice Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Snow has fallen over a large portion of the country, yet again. It's a day for hunkering down inside for many. As we continue through Lent, we recall that we have already been asked to pray for those who are hungry and those who are victims of natural disasters, let us pray especially this day:

God, remember those whose lives are more difficult because of the whims of the weather--
the children who are hungry on this snow day,
those who will struggle to make ends meet this month because of lost work,
your children who are chilled to the bone,
the many men and women who labor even harder than usual, cleaning roads              and restoring power,
May they find neighbors near to them who will remember their needs,
As we tend to our neighbors nearby.
As your eye is on the sparrow, may it be on those most in need of your care. Amen.

In case you've missed it, you can still download a giving calendar. There are still a few calendars and boxes at church.

Those of you who enjoy social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can still join in the Lent Photo a Day challenge

It's Lent, but Easter's Coming...

And here's what that means for you:
  • Easter is Sunday, April 5th, in case you were wondering. A sign-up sheet for breakfast will be passed around this Sunday.
  • Please bring wrapped candy or small toys to fill Easter eggs. Angie Hepworth will make sure the eggs are ready to go by Easter morning.
  • Would you be in charge of getting palms for Palm Sunday (March 29)? You can purchase them, trim your own tree, go on a midnight raid through your neighborhood looking for some low-hanging branches. We're not picky. We do need 20-30 branches for Sunday morning, though. PS: the picture is what happened the year the pastor was in charge of this project. You can do better!
  • We often celebrate baptisms and welcome new members on Easter. If you're interested in or would like more information, contact Abby
