Sunday School 2.0

In the last few years, we've gotten used to only coming to worship on Sunday mornings. We're working on changing that habit! Many of you have asked for education opportunities for yourselves and for our kids. In response, an opportunity for learning, connection or fun, will happen most Sundays going forward. It's not a formal Sunday School (that's why it's 2.0!), but we'll let you know what's happening, what ages it's appropriate for, and run time. For right now, these opportunities will take place following worship, starting at 11:20. Look for SS 2.0 and the information about that Sunday's opportunities.

Also, if there's something you'd like to see offered or you would like to offer, let Rev. Abby know. We're always open to ideas.

Bible 101

Our Bible 101 study will kick off Tuesday, March 14! We'll meet at the Panera (formerly Paradise Bakery) at Ray and the 101. We'll gather for food at 6:30, with study from 7-8 p.m.

Congregational Meeting

We will have a brief congregational meeting following worship on February 19 in order to approve additional officers and deacons for 2017.

Baptism Preparation

Chalice's tradition is to perform baptisms on Easter Sunday.  Another part of that tradition is to offer preparation classes during Lent, which begins March 1. As is true of the broader Disciples of Christ, our tradition is to baptize older children and adults who have not received Christian baptism before. Kids or adults interested in classes of preparation should let Rev. Abby know. We'll work to accommodate everyone's schedule.

Regional Youth Retreat

Regional youth retreats are approaching! Retreats run from Saturday morning to Sunday morning. Many kids and adults who attend and counsel summer camp also head to retreat. If you're considering camp, you should go! Forms for the March retreat will be available at church on Sunday.

Chi Rho & CYF retreats (grades 6-12) are March 4th & 5th in Tucson.

CCF Retreat (grades 1-5) is April 1st & 2nd in Mesa.

Note: Retreats are open to younger CCF kids, but our youngest campers have just finished 3rd grade. Offering a chance for one night away instead of a week away is a great introduction for our 1st and 2nd grade kids.

Each week, we publish a calendar of what's happening within our faith community. However, our building is used throughout the week by many other people. Here's what a typical week of building use looks like from outside groups alone. We have some additional monthly groups as well!

Lectionary Study

As a reminder, a group gathers each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to study the text for the following Sunday's sermon. Since we typically follow the reading cycle of texts known as the Revised Common Lectionary, it's called a lectionary study. (Yes, we break from it a couple times a year, but meh, rules.) If you're interested, you're invited.
