The eSojourner

Chalice Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Advent Continues!

Bring your favorite holiday treat to share this Sunday. (We're talking food, here, just in case it's not clear.) Plan to stay after worship for munching and a holiday sing-along. Rudolph, Frosty, carols, who knows what all.

Our gift drive continues with doll and truck day! Toy vehicles of all sorts are welcome, as are dolls. Baby Alive and princess toys are especially requested.

Coping with the Holidays Grief Workshop

In the midst of lots of fun, we want to provide some tools for those of you who are grieving this holiday season. Plan to join Rev. Ruth Schulenberg, chaplain and CPE supervisor at Banner Good Samaritan, for a Coping with the Holidays Grief workshop at Chalice on Monday, December 8th at 7 p.m. It's helpful (but not required) to let Rev. Abigail know you're coming. Anyone is welcome to attend, not just Chalice folks.

Calling All Kids!

At our Christmas Eve service, we're inviting kids of all ages to participate in Improv at the Stable. It's an impromptu Christmas play with costumes and fun. We don't have to know if you're participating before, but it's helpful. Let Pat Barton know if your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, second cousin's daughter, neighbor kid or anyone else will be at Chalice on Christmas Eve and wants to be involved. Seriously--all are welcome!
The East Valley Youth Group will meet at Chalice on Sunday, December 14th from 5-7 p.m. for their Christmas party. Would you be willing to help provide food for 15-20 kids and adults? Let Rev. Abigail know!

Kids and parents--you'll get details on Sunday regarding a Gift of Trash and other plans!

Get Your Hands Dirty!

Well, sweaty, or something like that. We have two opportunities for hands-on help at Chandler Christian Community Center. On Thursday, December 18th, we'll be sorting gifts from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On the morning of Monday, December 22nd, we'll be helping with distribution of the gifts. If you'd like to help either time (or both!) let Rev. Abigail know. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome to come!

A Few Notes
  • Christmas brings lots of things, including piles of paper, in all forms, wrapping paper, cardboard, cards, stuffing paper, catalogs, etc.  Don’t discard; deposit it in our paper bin at Chalice.  We get money on the amount that is deposited in our paper bin.  Don’t forget our textile bin, too!
  • If you're doing holiday shopping on Amazon, use this link! You'll be redirected to your normal Amazon site and Chalice gets a percentage of the money you spend on Amazon.
