The Dixie Theatre: The Best in Live Professional Theatre, Music & Dance since 1913
DIXIE THEATRE announces 2016 Season 19 schedule
Wow, who thought July would arrive so quickly, not us!
January is just a blink away and we are busy fine tuning things at the Theatre for one of the most spectacular seasons to date. Kickin' it off with Tallahassee Swing Band matinee again, Pas de Vie Ballet back to dance their way into your hearts, Bob Milne-greatest ragtime piano ever-returns for his 17th year with us, yikes, how lucky are we!
Margo & the Encore Band with their tribute to Patsy, an all time audience favorite. Spencer Bohren returns for his second season and if you're wise, you won't miss your chance this time. That's all folks talked about last season...those that saw and heard this incredible musician and those that didn't.
34 West Theater brings a new show, Groovy Kinda Love, now you know that's gonna be a blast, right before we present OYSTERTOWN. Yep, we're finally going to produce our "hometown" show OYSTERTOWN that I've been trying to get off the ground for 10 years, woo hoo! Best part is, our favorite David Caldwell is writing it and we couldn't be happier!!
Not only that, but many previous Dixie company members return to grace the stage with their incredible talent. It's going to be the funnest show ever and we can't wait. March brings a new face with some of the most talented musicians that have previously been on the Dixie stage, Artie Rodriguez & the Country Gold Band, don't miss them, you'll regret it like you did when you missed Spencer last season. What would a St. Paddy's day be without Tim Kerns & Sligo Line...we don't want to find out. Earl David Reed returns and I know no one will miss him because he was the only thing folks talked about for weeks after his awesome stand-up comedy show. Those guys, John & Brett, who brought the Jim Croce Tribute...well, they're back and we are thrilled.
The first Saturday in April, Sarah Mac Band has gotta help us close it out cause we simply don't know any other way. We love our "house band", they are so special to us.
Now here's some really big news...
As you remember, Nick retired at the end of last season and my brother Tony has been manning the Box Office since then. Well, Tony is going to be one of about 8 or 9 in the cast of OYSTERTOWN so we've got the worlds greatest coming back to help us keep the Box Office running smoothly. That's right St. Nicholas returns for a few weeks and I am beyond ecstatic. Well, that's all for now folks, stay tuned as things progress thru the rest of hurricane season, we'll be busy getting ready to open the doors on Season 19 in 2016.
Don't wait too long to make your reservations tho, one very smart patron just purchased 42 tickets for 6 shows and she knew just where she wanted to sit, so hurry and don't miss your opportunity to get what you want when you want it. Call Tony Wednesday or Saturday, he's in the Box Office from 12 noon until 5 PM at 850-653-3200. And visit us for more info at DixieTheatre.com.
