Winter Newsletter

     Hello Friends!

In 2016 I started migrating farther west during my festival season, and many of my applications for the 2017 festival season are in Colorado. I have applied for one local Fort Wayne show, Three River's Art in the Park, and one Indianapolis show.  I will know if I am accepted into shows sometime in April; My spring newsletter should outline my semi-complete festival schedule.  I do have one confirmed event on March 4th in South Bend, IN.  The 'For the Love of Art' indoor art market will be held at the South Bend Century Center on Saturday, March 4th, from 10:00am until 6:00pm.  This is a relatively easy drive for my Chicago patrons; I do not plan to do any other shows in or around Chicago in 2017.
In December I hosted my annual Holiday Open House in downtown Fort Wayne, IN.  Saturday was a success, but Sunday handed me a blizzard. Thank you to all those who made it out to visit with me on Saturday; it was lovely seeing your smiling faces!
Downtown Fort Wayne has embraced public art, and I am so pleased that I get to be part of the revitalization of my hometown.  In addition to the large metal guitar sculpture that Alex Mendez and I installed last October and the Riverfront Bench Project last summer, I had the honor of collaborating with artists, Theoplis Smith and Terry Ratliff, on another public art project!  Our mural, 'People on Streets' was installed in mid-January. The piece is part of an ongoing project to activate the alley walkways in downtown.  This is the link to the news coverage of this very exciting project.  I hope to continue being involved in this forward momentum!
I am also bringing art to the kids by visiting schools!  I have a line up of local elementary schools that have invited me into their classrooms, art classes and after school events to talk about art as a career; I also teach some basic painting skills, and sometimes the kids paint too.  Our education committee at Wunderkammer Company is still offering free monthly teen workshops, and we have now opened the courses to adults! For those interested, here is the link to our February class. I have also become increasingly involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters' 'Cupcakes and Paint.'  This is an excellent opportunity to expose creative kids to the growing art-related job market including graphic design, film, animation, and more.

In January 2017 I returned to the Dash-In Restaurant to have a solo show. I haven't had work there since 2014; This is the venue where I had my first art show in 2013, and I am so happy to be exhibiting there again! Thank you to everyone who came to my opening event at the Dash-In!
I was accepted as an exhibiting artist at the Fort Wayne International Airport for the second year in a row! I will have work there from October through December this year.  For a full list of my events and venues
follow my Facebook Event's page or my website events page.
I launched a new website: http://www.alexandrahallart.com/ I added new features like an on-line shopping cart for available original works and several other upgrades.  Please make a note to cross the old site off any of my old marketing materials.

I cannot thank you enough for all your support, without it, I would never get to do what I love.

              Be good to one another!
                          All My Best,
                                                                         Alex

The portrait on steel was completed after this picture was taken (in progress image). My local clients asked me to paint on a heavy steel sheet to add an industrial element to their home.  This was a big undertaking, but I was very happy with the finished product. The man's portrait was a commission for a local dentist. The drinking frog, the cat and the two dogs were all commission works.'Darwin', 'Kafka' & 'Jobs' are part of my genius collection.  'Kafka' sold at the Botanical Conservatory in Fort Wayne.  'Jobs' was purchased by the owner of Trubble Brewing on Broadway.  It is on permanent display in the brewery.
