October was a busy, fun and productive month at Muaks!

I travelled to Estonia to lecture and teach about Direct Composite Restoration.  This is a fast and effective aesthetic procedure for veneers when compared to the traditional porcelin veneers.  More information below....

Our website is now up and running...  It is very informative about all the dental treatments we offer www.muaksdental.com.  If you have any comments, please feel free to let us know.

As always, we are here to help with any of your dental questions or queries!  By phone, email or just pop in, our friendly team is here to help!

Composite Veneers vs Ceramic Veneers
COMPOSITE A new advanced technique which is applied directly to the tooth by a trained dentist with a thorough understanding of facial and tooth morphology. Each veneer will be individually sculpted to your tooth structure and tooth shade. With this option you will walk out with your new smile in just one visit. Composite veneers can have a life span of up to 15 years.
CERARMIC VENEERS  These are the traditional veneers where we use pure ceramics, fabricated from natural feldspathic. This ceramic has a natural fluorescence and inner glow, and beautiful value, just like the one we find in young teeth.
This option has a longer treatment process but can be stronger with more resistance. They have a life span of up to 20 years.

Below the Line

Even if you are a talented tooth brusher, you are unlikely to remove all the plaque, especially from those tricky areas between teeth and under the gum line. These areas are particularly vulnerable to food and plaque stagnation and this can lead to gum disease, tooth decay and halitosis (bad breath). It is important that all surfaces of the teeth are cleaned and as well as brushing, inter-dental cleaning is an excellent addition to your daily oral hygiene routine. You only need to adopt inter-dental cleaning once a day. It is best to try and do this when you give your teeth the last brush of the day, before bedtime. Discover a routine that suits you, the important thing is to get into the habit of doing it daily and doing it thoroughly. There are many options available including, inter-dental brushes, floss, tape and waterjets to clean effectively between the teeth and below the gum line. We can advise you which method is best suited to you and your teeth and coach you through the correct way of cleaning in between your teeth and under the gum line.

Did you know? John Lennon’s rotten molar recently fetched a whopping £19,500 at auction. It was purchased by a dentist from Canada!!
