Dear Neighbor,

A peaceful protest has been planned and will take place at the Belmont CTA Station this evening. You can learn more from the organizers here. This is a peaceful protest in honor of George Floyd and will begin at 5:00 p.m. before marching to the Stewart School Lofts at Sunnyside and Broadway, in Uptown, at 6:00 p.m.

Organizers are aware of other violent threats floating around social media and continue denouncing violence in the strongest terms.  Additionally, police are aware of these threats and will be throughout the neighborhood preparing for other groups that may follow.

Residents and businesses along our commercial streets are encouraged to remove valuables from windows and paper or board windows, if possible. Here is a list of companies that can board up buildings, if necessary:
Cook County Board Up: 708-389-3889
Chicago Board Up Service: 773-338-2500
Rapid Board Up: 773-997-8770
A Quality Board Up Services: 773-202-8700
Triple A All County Board Up: 773-233-4900
Busy Bee Board Up: 773-501-7705
Tri-County Board Up: 708-800-6672
The 44th Ward stands with these peaceful protestors and welcomes those that seek justice and do no harm in the neighborhood.  I will share additional information as it is made available.
Be safe,

Tom Tunney
