 CEAP Scoop

February 2015

 March Against Hunger
during Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign.

March is Minnesota FoodShare month and there is no better time to give! A portion of every dollar and pound of food raised for CEAP is matched by Minnesota FoodShare and the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches.  The more that is donated, the bigger the match.
Save the Date: Feed the Need

Feed the Need III is scheduled for Saturday, March 28 from 9am - 2pm.  CEAP's wildly successful on-location food and fund drive will be back in action.  Come support CEAP, Giggles and Dill. Looks for more information to come on all grocer locations.
Giggles v. Dill:  We want you to pick a side.

Giggles and Dill will be coming back, this time in competition of who can raise the most.  And they need your support.  Giggles will be representing groceries with a goal of 200,000 pounds of food. Dill will be representing dollars with a goal of $200,000. Who will you help?

Volunteers Make a Difference

Jessica Shinnick has been volunteering at CEAP for four months and has become a huge asset to CEAP's team.  Jessica wanted some place to volunteer to gain some job experience. On her first day, her thought was that CEAP was a fun place to be and that is rewarding. But she was most surprised by how much need there is in our community.

When asked what she wished to tell others about volunteering at CEAP, Jessica said, "I think young people in their community should volunteer because it not only gives you experience, it also teaches you a lot of life lessons that will be valuable in the future."

Did you see us on Channel 12?

CEAP was featured in Channel 12's Community Corner talking about our great programs and upcoming events. It's easy to support the only social services agency in the area.  Volunteer.  Donate.

Help turn a new leaf. Out with the old and in with the new. Turning Leaf Thrift Store has affordable pricing to help get that new outfit or one-of-a-kind find. And 100% of the revenue goes to support CEAP's programs like CEAP's Food Market, CEAP's Meals on Wheels and more.

Donating to Turning Leaf Thrift Store supports CEAP's programs so families can turn their own leaf and get back on the path to living independently and with diginity. Turning Leaf accepts new and gently used clothing and household goods at our Brooklyn Center and Blaine locations.

Turning Leaf will be opening in March.

Health Corner

February's health focus is portion sizes! During the month of February we’ll have portion control handouts and helpful tips to keep your plate in check at CEAP’s health table. We’ll also be posting portion control information to Facebook each week for Wellness Wednesday. Mark your calendars for a proper portion size food demo on Thursday, February 26th from 2-3pm at the health table at CEAP. Come stop by for a sample of fresh produce from the food shelf and other great portion size tips.
