Read Across America
This year Carpenter will be participating in Read Across America, a national initiative to encourage a love for reading.  Mrs. Alston will be leading a program called "Community Reads," and she needs your help!  She would like to invite professionals from our local community to come into the classrooms to read for 20-30 minutes and talk about why reading is necessary and important for their jobs.  We would love to see as many working Carpenter parents as possible come in to their child(ren)'s classrooms to read and talk with the students.  "Community Reads" for Tracks 1, 3 & 4 will be the week of March 4-8; Track 2 will be the week of March 11-15.  You can coordinate with your child's teacher to select a day and time that works with your and your teacher's scheduleAny professionals in the area are welcome, regardless of whether or not they have a student at Carpenter, so put the word out to your friends and neighbors!  All questions can be directed to Mrs. Alston at

PTA General Membership Meeting
Just a reminder that our next PTA General Membership Meeting will be this Wednesday, February 20th, at 5:30, just before the Science Expo begins.  Please join us in the Media Center to hear updates on the year thus far, and what we have planned for the future.  We'd also love to hear your feedback!  You do not have to be a PTA member to attend, and children are welcome to tag along.

Science Expo
We hope to see lots of our Chameleons at the Science Expo this Wednesday, February 20th, at 6:00 to see what awesome projects their classmates have come up with!  All kids that attend will get to participate in the scavenger hunt.  It will be a great time!  Science Expo participants should arrive at 5:30 for set up.
The yearbook committee is hard at work putting the finishing touches on this year's yearbook!  They need a few more pics from each class to round out the grade pages.  If you've taken any photos this year in your child's classroom, at field trips, or special school events, please send them to us!  Email the photos in full size with your child's name, teacher, and track to:   All photos need to be in by March 15th.

If you'd like to purchase a yearbook ad for your child(ren), you have until March 21st.  You can include a picture and message of love or congratulations and your child will be thrilled to see their own little place in the back of the yearbook.   You can also order your yearbook now at  ID: 11156019.  Preorders for yearbooks will be taken ONLINE ONLY this year.  Books are $20 for a softcover or $25 hardcover.  Orders will be taken through March 29th.

Run Club
The Spring session of Run Club will kick off on Friday, March 8th at 8:15am. All students may participate including kindergarteners. If you registered in the fall, you still need to re-register for the spring.
