Square 1 Art
The kids have been hard at work in Ms. Gursslin's class preparing this year's Square 1 Art pieces. Soon your child will be coming home with information on how to order. You'll be able to order your child's artwork on keepsakes such as stationery, mugs, tote bags, canvas prints, and magnets, just to name a few. There are tons of items to choose from, and they make great grandparent gifts! The PTA earns a portion of every sale. Preview the available items HERE, and keep an eye out for your student's masterpiece which will be coming home soon.
Calling all Chameleons, it's time to let your imagination fly and unleash your inner artist! Reflections is a national PTA program to recognize student excellence in the arts. Students in grades K-12 can enter an original work in one of 6 categories: Visual Arts, Literature, Photography, Musical Composition, Dance Choreography or Film Production. This year's theme is "Heroes Around Me." Entries must be the student's own independent work, and must be based on his/her interpretation of the theme. There is also a Special Artist Division as an option for students with disabilities. Visit bit.ly/StudentEntryForm to download an entry form including official rules. Deadline for all submissions is November 1st. Our school's winning pieces will move on to the Wake County PTA level. Questions? Contact Tara at email@example.com.
Draft 3 will be presented October 30th during a special school board work session. The public hearing will be November 7th as part of the regular 5:30 board meeting. Final approval of the 2019-2020 enrollment plan is scheduled for November 20th.

Kathy Hartenstine Kathy Hartenstine, our District 7 Wake County Public School Board member, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 23rd. She joined Wake County schools in 1987 and retired in January 2016 as principal of Baileywick Elementary School. She was assigned to District 7 of the school board in 2017. We are saddened to see the news of this advocate for our students and their education. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts during this difficult time. There has been a public expression of sympathy throughout the County. The Town of Morrisville began their Town Council meeting with a moment of silence, and Council Member Steve Rao honored her beautifully during the Invocation. Please see the video at the link HERE, starting at 1:35.
