Plans and Expectations
What an awesome God we serve...so in love with us and so wiling to step down from His heavenly throne to bring us, filthy rags and all, into His story! His promises are always true…and His blessings are abundant for those who follow obediently after Him.
We have to admit…we never expected to be living in the big city of San Pedro Sula, Hondruas. Our comfort zone is tucked away somewhere in the country far away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. But now that we are here and getting settled in, we are reminded that the true promises of God are rarely (and almost never) where our expectations take us. We are reminded that there is no place more secure than centered in His will.
When we prayed for God’s provision…He provided above and beyond what we needed to live in an area where the cost of living is much higher. When we prayed for God’s protection…He covered us in arguably one of the most dangerous cities on earth. When we prayed for God to prepare us…He surrounded us with a wonderful team of missionaries willing to pour their lives into us and help us side step some of the mistakes made by those before us.
A funny thing happens when you chase wholeheartedly after the Lord. All your plans and expectations go right out the window. Sure, we can dream and vision cast all we want but our God is so much bigger and always has so much more in store for the obedient heart. When we put our focus on his steps and His perspective we become vessels with which he can work and lives are changed forever. As for our comfort, it is found lying in the palms of His hands.
We are just about settled into our new home and are slowly but surely making it our own. God has brought us an affordable and reliable vehicle (Toyota 4Runner) and soon we will be adding a second one (Honda Odyssey) for Lindsey! Both will be perfect for the work God has for us here and we have been driving all over the city getting familiar with our surroundings.
God has brought us a new family member! Our Rottweiler puppy, Daisy Rose! Praise God! She is a loving and energetic little thing and we are sure she will grow into a wonderful companion and home protector!
Also last week we started language school and found an affordable place to enroll the kids into TaeKwonDo lessons!! I can’t believe how inexpensive it is!
While learning the language will be our primary function for the first year, we will be praying for and seeking out ministries where we can be used by God. There is certainly no lack for need here.
We love you all!! We can’t thank you enough for all of your prayers and support.
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
Please pray for provision, PROTECTION and continued health….. San Pedro Sula can be very dangerous and Satan is always prowling around seeking to kill and destroy. We need to always be diligent in our prayers against the enemy.
Please pray for us as we transition through our culture shock. Pray for patience, wisdom and discernment. Pray that God will grow our faith and show us the lessons through the storm.
Please pray that God will reveal to us how and where we can be used for His glory! There is so much need and so much darkness here so please pray that God will give us a discerning heart to be good stewards of our time and resources.
Please pray for the lost and broken children of Honduras. Please pray for revival in Honduras! Pray that these little ones will be lifted up out their poverty, and out of their sickness, and out of their hunger to become everything God wants them to be. Please pray for the children to be lifted out of their poverty, sickness, and huger to be the future ambassadors of Christ to the world!
