He is also a former Director with the Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited (GWVSL), a firm once saddled with the responsibility of providing platforms for securing the nation’s waterways.

NNPC Records 94% Rise In Pipelines Infractions 

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said the corporation suffered 94 per cent increase in the cases of willful hacking and destruction of its pipeline infrastructure across the country in November last year, fingering oil thieves as culprits.

Details of the report contained in the recently released NNPC Monthly Financial and Operations Report, MFOR, for November 2019 showed that 68 pipeline points were vandalized, representing about 94 per cent increase from the 35 points that were breached in October 2019.

The report stated that out of the vandalized points, 15 failed to be welded while only two pipeline points were ruptured.

Gbemisola Saraki unveils plan to overhaul Nigerian port operations

Worried that Nigeria operates the costliest seaport in the West African region, occasioned by duplicity of functions, Minister of State Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, has unveil plans to overhaul operations at the ports.

Saraki, who spoke yesterday, when members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), paid her a courtesy visit, noted that the high cost of operation has made it difficult for Nigeria to compete with its neighbouring countries.

“Nigeria is supposed to be the biggest player and the cheapest player, but unfortunately, we are not. But I assure you that changes will be witnessed as we will soon be efficient and effective,“ she said.

Africa Oil Receives  First Dividend From Its Nigeria Asset

Africa Oil Corporation,  has received its first dividend from Prime Oil and Gas previously known as Petrobras Oil and Gas, POGBV, a company that holds interests in deepwater Nigeria production and development assets.

POGBV has distributed a US$125 million dividend with a net payment to Africa Oil of US$62.5 million related to its 50 per cent interest.

The Company will apply this amount, and any future dividends, in priority towards the repayment of its US$250 million POGBV acquisition loan, in order to accelerate the repayment of the loan principal amount.

Climate change: How marine life is on the move

More unusual marine life is being spotted off the UK coast and scientists predict that up to 10 new species of sharks could inhabit British waters by 2050.

But are the sightings reliable and, if so, why does marine life appear to be on the move?

Experts from the Institute of Marine Sciences at The University of Portsmouth say the reports are due to a number of different factors, including the fact natural populations are recovering from historic hunting and the impact of climate change.

The increasing use of smart phones and photo-sharing sites have also played their part in what is a world-wide change to our marine populations.

Qatargas: Commissioning LNG Cargo Shipped to India’s Mundra LNG Terminal

Doha-based liquefied natural gas producer Qatargas has supplied a commissioning LNG cargo for India’s newest LNG receiving terminal, Mundra.

The Q-Flex LNG carrier Muwab loaded the cargo at Ras Laffan Port, Qatar, on January 17.

The 216,000 cbm vessel arrived in India on January 22, 2020.

As informed, Mundra is the second LNG terminal that Qatargas helped commission in India within the past year. It followed an earlier commissioning cargo which was delivered by the company to the Ennore LNG receiving terminal, near the southern Indian city of Chennai, in February 2019.
