Why attend this Masterclass?
The impact and role of artificial intelligence (AI) in future society is one of the most exciting and important topics of our time. AI has already started generating creative content like songs, works of art, and even recipes. Even more immediately relevant are the algorithms that inform human artists’ choices around what to create or that assist in creative production. But what is to become of human creativity in the face of these advances? Will it be enhanced with our new digital tools, or will human creativity—that which sets us apart in the animal kingdom—be crushed? Research into music and other creative industries might provide some clues. The answer might be more hopeful than you think.

Noah Askin is an Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour. He is an award-winning case writer and teacher at INSEAD, where he directs and teaches in multiple Executive Education programs in addition to teaching the organisational design and leadership core course in the MBA program. His teaching and speaking focuses primarily on firms’ organisational-strategic alignment, leading and experiencing organisational change, understanding and utilizing social networks, the conditions for fostering creativity, and managing corporate culture.

His work, which has garnered him recognition on the Thinkers 50 Radar list, has appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, American Sociological Review, and computational social science publications. His research has been covered in The Economist, Forbes, Business Insider,, M Magazine, The Times of London, and music industry blogs.

Prior to becoming a business school academic, he had a number of roles in the business and not-for-profit sectors. He was a management consultant for the Monitor Group, and was a member of the 2008 Obama Presidential campaign in California. Noah received a joint PhD from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and its Sociology department. He also has an MA in Sociology from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Booth, as well as an AB in Psychology from Harvard University.
