On behalf of the INSEAD Alumni Energy Club, we would like to extend an invitation to our upcoming webinar on the global energy situation
The soaring of Energy prices and the acceleration of inflation make continuous headlines. Western Governments are not aligned yet on how to respond and to cushion the impact of the crisis on society and economy while scrambling to achieve energy security.
Some members of the EU are advocating for electricity price control while others are looking to offer subsidies. Just a few days ago, Italy announced a proposed windfall profit tax of 10% on some energy companies in order to fund a programme to protect consumers and businesses from rising prices. Some senators in the USA are also working on similar measures. With regards to supply, Norway is maximizing its gas production while European countries are looking to secure alternative sources for their gas needs from large producers, such as Qatar, at a time when prices are precisely peaking. The situation is very complex: it will impact decisions on energy transition. When the dust settles at the other end of the crisis, the world will probably look quite different.
We intend to cover some of these topics with this new edition of the Ambition Net Zero series co-hosted by the INSEAD Alumni Association Norway, the INSEAD Alumni Association Switzerland, and the Global Energy Club. Join us for this exciting discussion moderated by Anders Porsborg-Smith, Managing Director & Partner at BCG, Global Lead on Environmental Markets with Saad Rahim, Chief Economist and Global Head of Research at Trafigura, Marion Labatut, Deputy director for European Affairs at EDF and Emanuele Colombo, Senior Strategic Advisor to the Deputy CEO of Swissgrid.
