chieftain’s chat
Who can believe we’re in February 2018 already. It’s been pretty busy since we last had a blether. There’s been the End of Summer Shindig on the Albatross, Highland Park Viking and Macallan Special Edition No.3 Whisky launches, fabulous Lassies Afternoon Tea at Atlas, a reception for committee, guard and sponsors at the Chilean Ambassador’s Residence and of course the Singapore St Andrew’s Ball.
It was an incredible night with over 400 guests, many still dancing into the wee hours of the morning. We were incredibly well supported by our sponsors, with Edrigton supplying the whisky and for the first time in 20 years, we had MacSween of Edinburgh haggis, stored and delivered by Hubers Butchers.
Last month, we celebrated the Bard’s birthday with a new-look Burns Supper in its new home of the Shangri-La Hotel. The canny plan was to accommodate a larger crowd and to throw in some ceilidh dancing to boot. Completing the change, we brought the talented Trail West Ceilidh band over to play us some tunes from the West Coast of Scotland.
The move and changes were a huge success with guests enjoying homeland delicacies of haggis, whisky, oatcakes, shortbread, tablet and even bacon butties and Walkers crisps to keep the energy up for dancing into the wee hours.
Hurtling fast towards the end of my tenure as Chieftain, I've got a few more plans up my sleeve for the coming months, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the updates...
