WESTERN PORT
HASTINGS

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters switched tactics this week and headed over to Western Port where he picked up plenty of good whiting for his clients. Pipi and squid have been the stand out baits.

There are plenty of mixed bags to be had around the Corinella area! Michael and his good mate landed this quality feed of pinkies, gummy’s, whiting, trevally and salmon while fishing in 6m of water on Christmas day. Great feed fellas!

Andrew Ketelaar landed this lovely Western Port mulloway while fishing near Bass River this week. Live mullet was the key for Andrew.

WESTERN ENTRANCE

Good customer Ben DaRose and his good mate Chris headed out on the Port last week and boated this 27kg beast of a school shark in the Western Entrance! The boys managed to land the big girl after a couple of tangles...fresh trevally was the key. Well done fellas!

HALF MOON BAY

Anthony Torpy fished from the sand at Half Moon Bay and landed this respectable 4.8kg snapper on fresh salmon. Love ya work Anthony!

Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters definitely haven’t had a Christmas break with this hot snapper bite going on! Plenty more fish came aboard both boats this week as it appears they will see out the year with plenty of smiles!

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters sent plenty of customers home with a great feed of snapper just in time for Christmas! Fish have been in good numbers in about 15m of water with pilchard and silver whiting being the best baits.

The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters were stoked to be able to put their clients onto a heap of fish this week as they bagged out multiple times. Plenty of fresh snapper to go round, well done fellas!

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters delivered the goods again this week with some beautiful snapper up over 6kg. Pilchard and squid were working well for Jayson.

Staff member Liz was lucky enough to sneak out in some superb conditions on Friday and managed this beautiful snapper for Christmas dinner! Liz reports that this hungry snapper couldn’t resist her pilchard offering!

Josh Trapman ditched his own rod for his dads and it paid off when this 56cm flatty was on the end! Josh was fishing in 17m of water out from Mt Martha with the family when he landed this beauty! Josh’s brother Harry also helped with the net. Great team work boys!

Young Lucas Symes, who is only new to the fishing game, has started his fishing career with a BANG landing this cracker of a flathead off Rye on Thursday morning. Great effort Lucas and it’s great to see these big flathead making a comeback!

Good customer Cameron Chasemore landed this tasty gummy shark while fishing the Symonds Channel near Mud Island. Cam’s young fella, Charlie was very impressed with Dad’s catch!

Michael Stevens is down on holiday from Hamilton Island and was stoked to land this lovely 72cm gummy while fishing Browns Reef out from Tootgarook. Michael reports that a strip of fresh octopus did the damage.

A few of the boys from Tackle World Mornington headed down to the bend after work on a recent hot and humid evening. Zach landed his first ever fish on fly which was a lovely little estuary perch. Zach managed to finally get a fly to actually land on the water after numerous tries when the perch hit. I guess that makes you 1 from 1 Zach!
The fly of choice was a green beadhead wooly bugger and the boys also got plenty of fish on topwater hard bodies. Jackson Pygmy Pencils and T-Pivots are always a favourite.

What a way to spend Christmas day?! 8 year old Maddison caught her first Barramundi at Hazelwood Pondage on Sunday which measured 45cm! Lovely catch Maddison!

There is definitely some bigger barra in Hazelwood! Robbie landed this 80cm model while casting a gold bomber on Friday.

BROKEN RIVER

Staff member Lachlan Henstock has spent the past couple of days fishing up at the Broken River near Benalla and reports there are countless amounts of healthy cod. Lachy has landed 20 fish in total with the majority of fishing coming on surface lures. Jackall Pompadour lures were the go to.
