Clients aboard Port Macdonnell Fishing Charters were stoked with their bag of fish from Wednesday. Reports are that they were fishing from 10m to 50m of water. Great work guys; a sign of things heading Portland way!

Matt Boulton from Fish On charters had a good Easter long weekend. Matt has been finding good patches of bluefin and albacore east of the horse shoe.

Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen fishing charters is known as a local on the tuna front, he has been managing some good bags for customers over the past week. Love your work Sharky.

This 66.7kg cracker bluefin was caught east of the Horse Shoe in 400 metres. There are some bigger fish kicking around in the area, we expect to see more reports of some barrels in the near future.
PORT FAIRY

Sam Scire got amongst the bluefin action on the weekend off Port Fairy, Sam fished in perfect conditions over the long weekend.

TASMANIA

Daniel from team Shimano Tasmania landed his PB Bluefin, Weighing in at 113 kg cleaned. Once the fish was cleaned, the group headed to the shelf to try for a sword but unfortunately lost one at the boat. Top effort guys.

The yellowfin have definitely been in full swing off Bermagui this week, most boats having to travel about 20km to find them, but there are reports that there is some fish in close.

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big fishing charters had another successful week on the whiting. Shaun reports that all three baits, pipi, mussel and squid are working well.

Good customer Pete Ferguson fished with his mate Mick over the Easter break, and while calamari were the target, and the boys got some beauties, they also encountered a couple of big cuttlefish.

The elephants have turned up in numbers across Western Port and Corinella has definitely been a hotspot. Jordyn caught his first ever elephant on the weekend in perfect conditions, well done mate!

5 year old, Cash Jarvis caught his PB flathead on Good Friday which measured 40cm. There has been a lot of reports of good size flatties coming out of Western Port of late, especially these tasty rock flathead. Love your work buddy!

TANKERTON

Staff member Scott Harper fished with his good mate Peter Vink and had a good session on the calamari. The Boys tried to convert their catch into a gummy shark, but unfortunately were unsuccessful. On the upper hand, they went home with a lovely feed.

WESTERN ENTRANCE

Well done to Bob Hee who landed this 21.5kg school shark in the Western Entrance over the long weekend! Bob reports that she fell victim to a fresh slimy fillet. Fantastic capture, great work Bob!

Two members of the Northern Metro Sports Fishing club, Con and Andy found a lovely mixed bag out from Werribee which consisted of whiting, pinkies and flathead.
RICKETTS POINT

Staff member Kallan had a ripper session with his old man off Ricketts point on Saturday. The pair managed between 40 and 50 small pinkies to about 1kg using metal jigs and Fuze Triple Tail soft plastics.

Exciting times, the garfish have well and truly turned up in numbers around Frankston. Evan Karamoutsos managed this bag of good sized gars during the week using silverfish as bait. Great work Evan.

Last week we received a report from the Bryant family, and they have been back at it again this week! Blair Bryant reports that there are still good numbers of pinkies in the area, but the size has decreased over the past week. The calamari are still kicking around and there are some descent ones amongst them.

Laura and Amelia Headed out from Portarlington on Monday with their father; the group set out to target some squid and whiting and their mission was successful with a nice feed of both species.

ST LEONARDS

Campbell Potts took his son, James and friend Asher Herman out during the week for a quick whiting bash off St Leonards. The group was successful in catching a lovely bag of whiting and Asher was stoked with his first ever fish and he caught seven! Well done mate.

Athen Lazaris fished with his daughter Sue, in search of some big gummies and was not disappointed. Athen came up tight with this big girl caught using a fresh squid strip.

Toolondo Reservoir has been on fire the last week. Chris Frydas fished the lake for the first time in 30 years and found some great success after taking some pointers from Trevor Holmes. Well done mate, cracker fish.

Alby Gray managed to find three cracking browns at Toolondo over the Easter long weekend. Alby reports the lake is alive and well!

BLUE ROCK LAKE

Whilst Blue Rock is now renowned for its bass fishing, there are some large redfin kicking around the trees. Cam Ball caught this cracker which measured 43cm.

COHUNA

Gary Purcell has been fishing in the states North around Cohuna and landed this lovely murray cod which measured 90cm and weighed 15kg, this was Gary’s best Murray cod in over 40 years of targeting them. Gary reports that this fish was caught on a live yabby, and was released to fight another day.

KILCUNDA

They’re not the most desired fish, but they are definitely one of the tastiest and prettiest fish going around. Mitchell Hee landed this red gurnard off Kilcunda whilst fishing with his dad, Rodney and Pa, Bob.

GIPPSLAND LAKES

Gippsland Lakes, in particular Lake Wellington has been fishing exceptionally well the past couple of weeks for dusky flathead. Angler Jayden caught this lovely little model.

PAYNESVILLE

Tackleworld Mornington staff member, Kyle couldn’t keep the grin off his face when he landed his PB bream which measured 41cm. Kyle was fishing the docks at Paynesville using fresh sand worm as bait.

LAKES ENTRANCE

Young Josh Newstead landed his first solo gummy over the long weekend off Lakes Entrance. Josh’s father, Mick, reports that Josh went out to catch some fresh tailor as bait, and then converted it into the lovely gummy.

MALLACOOTA

Steven Clarke landed this cracking flathead which measured 80cm whilst fishing near Johnbull in Mallacoota. Steven and his dad had a great session landing 10 fish in 30 minutes.

Mornington staff member Riley Hood, was lucky enough to head down to Mallacoota over the long weekend. Riley’s bream mission was successful, he landed good numbers of bream fishing the flats casting small vibes and hardbodies.

Jim Elliot has been fishing off Flinders Island with some success. Jim landed this fantastic gummy shark during the week using fresh squid.

WAKOOL RIVER NSW

Staff Member Don Newman has been fishing up on the Wakool River in NSW with a bit of success. Don has been fishing with good friend, Mark Voerman who caught a few 45cm cod and Don landed this 45cm golden perch. Don reports that all fish were caught on live yabbies.

Unfortunately for Don, he slipped down the bank later in the day and broke his leg. From all of us here at Tackle World Cranbourne, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Bermagui has been on fire with the yellowfin turning up, but here is a different fish you don’t see every day. This spearfish was caught over the edge of the shelf whilst targeting marlin.

A couple of nice kings by skipper Wazza Stubbs from Lighthouse Charters. Montague Island has been fishing exceptionally well this week with most fish caught on jigs.

Fisherman Dan Binns was amazed to have a whale shark come up and swim around his boat at Montague Island on Tuesday. Not something you see every day at Montague !
