img

img
PAUL and the IFISHTV crew have just returned from Princess Charlotte Bay in far north Queensland fishing with the Boatsales IFISH Apprentice, Jock Crawford aboard Nomad Sportfishing. They had the trip of a lifetime landing species including GT’s, Chinamen, Coral Trout, Yellowfin Tuna, Hump Head wrasse, Queenfish, Triggerfish, Red Bass and Bluefin Trevally. The highlight was Jock landing a 50 pound Giant Trevally on the first day and Paul catching an 86cm Coral Trout on fly after they teased the fish off the reef on a hookless stick bait. You can catch all of the madness in series 11 of IFISH when it airs on TEN and ONE later this year

KINGFISH
THE RIP
img

img
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters reports that the Rip went off its head late last week with the big kings rolling in. Matt landed multiple fish to 10+kg and there were some even bigger fish that were truly unstoppable! Entice and Hayabusa knife jigs have been working exceptionally well.

img
As the long weekend rolled on, Matt Cini says the fish just kept coming. Kings well into the 90+ cm were regular and still some unstoppable hoodlums eluded Matt and the crew.

img

The boys from Southern Sport and Game Fishing Charters have been nailing some descent kingfish from out of the Rip and also offshore throughout the week. Live baits have proved most effective.

PORTLAND
img
Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters has been getting stuck into some insane kingy action out from Portland this week. The fishing has been phenomenal with massive schools of 10+ kg fish. Matty landed this cracker while working a soft plastic along the surface.

img
Scotty Gray was back at it again and stumbled across a pack of monster hoodlums that took a liking to his Rapala longcast stickbait offering. If you want to hear all about Scotts adventures on the Kings, make sure you book a seat to his talk next Wednesday at TW Cranny.

img

Good friend of the shop, Dougie Bauer got right amongst the Portland kingfish action and boated his PB. Portland was red hot this week, most anglers have had success fishing live squid and yakkas under a float or balloon.

NAROOMA
img
Montague Island was firing again throughout the week. The boys from Charter Fish Narooma had no troubles finding good amounts of kingies of 80-90cm. Jigging has proved most effective.

MT MARTHA
img
Between the Kingy action, Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters has been smashing both the whiting and calamari out from Mt Martha. Matt reports mussel and squid have been stand out baits.

AROUND THE STATE
DEVILBEND
img
A few of the boys had a "Mornington Vs Cranbourne" fish off last Thursday night in some quality conditions at Devilbend Reservoir. Staff members, Dave and Gaz went head to head with Gerry and Mark from Mornington, though it wasn't much of a competition as Garry the guru managed 29 perch on his fly rod! However, Gerry did manage this little redfin which saved Mornington from some embarrassment.

img

Gaz returned 2 days later with the fly rod and landed another 10 EP’s on the fly. They’re not big fish; in fact their all about 23cm, but they fight well for their size. Imagine how good this fishery will be when these fish grow!

img

Staff members Zac and Jesse have also been hitting Devilbend this week. One of their mate’s old man landed this cracker Brown off the fishing platform at the Quarry. The rain this week has certainly fired the trout up at Devilbend.

TORRUMBARRY
img

Tate Whaley has had a busy month catching plenty of fish! Tate headed up to Torrumbarry on Sunday and landed his very first golden perch. Tate was thrilled! Well done mate.

SOLDIERS BEACH
img

NOOSA
img
Viking Kayak pro staffer Martyn Gittens did a run up to Noosa late last week and got stuck into a pack of spotty mackerel with Jason Milne from Viking Kayaks Australia. The fish were quite flighty and they believed they had a clear advantage over the boats around in being able to stay quite stealthy on the yaks. 30 and 60 gram metal slug were best but frequent lure changes were essential as the fish wised up to what was going on. Well played boys!
