THE RIP

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters had a successful week on the Kings this week. Fishing The Rip, Matt managed some nice Kings on the slack water. Best jigs were the Hayabusa Jackeye in 150 and 200g.

Ash Smith from Arno Bay Fishing Adventures has been jigging up the Kings over in South Aus with plenty of 10kg models landed from the Port Lincoln area.

There is some very good Kingy action happening up at Narooma this week with Montague Island continuing to be the hot spot. The boys from Charter Fish Narooma managed some crackers for their clients the past couple of weeks!

NEW ZEALAND

Charmaine Meilak flew over to New Zealand this week for a quick Kingy trip and it definitely paid off! Charmaine left from Mangawhai and headed to Mokohinaus Island where she tussled with 4 big Kingfish and a couple of big groper. Pink knife jigs cleaned up according to Charmaine.

MIDDLE SPIT

Robert Coillet ventured out onto the waters of Westernport on Monday looking for some Whiting. After searching for a while, Rob finally found some fish at the northern end of the middle spit and they were well worth the effort with whiting to 45cm. Best baits were pipi’s and squid tentacles.

TYABB BANK

John Collins and his son Tony fished the top of the Tyabb bank on Sunday morning for an hour around the low tide Change. The boys managed 14 Whiting before the tide stopped and the fish shut down. Best baits were shucked mussels.

YARINGA

Young Michael caught his very first whiting this week and it was an absolute beauty of 42cm! Michael was fishing with his dad out from Yaringa when the whiting came on the chew.

CORINELLA

Chris Preston landed this chunky 56cm flathead while fishing quite shallow near Corinella this week. Chris reports that he landed his flathead on pilchard and also released after the photo. Great work Chris!

Fishing out near corals, Holly Moulday caught this 5kg gummy shark on Monday using fresh yakka fillets. Fantastic catch Holly!

Cameron Edwards and his daughter Charli landed a tasty feed of calamari while fishing near Flinders with Cameron’s mate, Jeff. Whiting were the original target, but after a slow morning, the kids were stoked with their squid!

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters headed back out on the Port this week and nailed a couple of big gummy’s for his clients. This beauty was estimated around 16kg before release.

There is plenty of whiting coming aboard for the boys from Sharkmen Fishing Charters this week. The crew are operating out of Mt Martha currently and are doing quite well up and down the Peninsula.

Staff member David Kramer had a great little session on the KGW Saturday morning out from Sorrento. David reports fish over 40cm took strips of baby cuttlefish on the run out tide in 4m of water. The Peninsula is definitely firing! Cuttlefish is in stock at both Mornington & Cranbourne and the whiting love them!

Futurefish Foundation chairman Michael Buxton fished Sorrento moorings on Monday for a cracker bag of whiting. Michael’s best went 42cm with all fish coming on the runout tide using cuttlefish and mussel for bait.

PORTARLINGTON

Amelia headed out with her dad on Monday in search of some whiting near Portarlington. The fishing was little tough for the pair on, but after a bit of persistence, Amelia and her father were able to take home a few whiting for the table. Mussel was the preferred bait.

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters snuck down to Portland this week for a bit of a social and recon trip. Mitch found stacks of tuna in shallow water that definitely weren’t afraid to hit a surface lure.

Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters has taken one of the boats down to Portland and so far has had good success on the bluefin that are prevalent at the moment. Looks like it will shape out to be another ripper tuna season!

Lake Eildon is on fire at the moment! Matty Wright and his mate Ron Webster fished up the Big River Arm on Thursday afternoon and were rewarded with this huge 94cm cod. Casting spinner baits and bigger surface or swim baits seem to be the best methods for catching the bigger Eildon cod.

Its great seeing such a big smile on a young fellas face after catching a great fish! Max Morland landed this beautiful 6.3kg snapper along with some quality gummys while out from Port Welshpool this week. Awesome stuff Maxy!
