WESTERN PORT
LYSAUGHTS

Kozzi and Huff ventured out to the Lysaughts area this week in search of some whiting. The boys report that the fishing was a little slow, but they were able to take home a small feed in the end.

Western Port whiting whisperer, Greg Duncan has been getting plenty of his customers onto chunky whiting out from Yaringa this week. Greg has had to work hard for his fish the past week, but on Wednesday managed to find good numbers of fish to 38cm.

Amy landed her very first gummy shark this week while fishing in Western Port and it was quite a respectable size at 115cm. Love ya work Amy!

It’s fair to say there are some good gummys being caught in Western Port of late! Rick Covalt landed this genuine 20kg beauty while fishing out from Corinella this week. Fantastic fish mate!

Greg Sack and Ross Phelan fished around Elizabeth Island last week in about 7m of water and were stoked to catch a good feed of snapper. The outgoing tide was the best bite time.

Cas Rushford headed out with her husband Mick throughout the week and was very pleased with her gummy caught near San Remo.

Justin Blythe headed to the Point Leo/ Shoreham area on Tuesday night where he fished land-based in search of a big gummy and to his delight, managed to succeed with this big girl from the sand. Justin reports that a fresh trevally cutlet on the incoming tide brought about his success.

Mason Shulze managed a couple of nice reds this week with the bigger of these two weighing 7kg. Mason fished the 13m line out from Black Rock and fresh squid was the key. Great work mate!

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters has been finding some good sized snapper in about 17m of water out from Carrum. It’s great to see there are still plenty of fish up and around the 5kg mark.

Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters delivered the goods again this week and there were plenty of smiles going round with the amount of fish coming in! The afternoon bite seemed to produce the majority of fish this week.

The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters have had a fantastic season on the reds and it has only become better the past few weeks with the amount of Christmas charters! The size of fish were down this week, but not to worry, they were still quite tasty!

Angelo La Rosa has been heading to Berwick Springs with the family this week and was very happy to land some little redfin on worms.

It's not all about barra in Hazelwood, there's big bass kicking around in there too! Back in 2003 Fisheries Victoria stocked the lake with 10,000 Australian bass and here's the living proof they survived! Anthony Tsakmakis landed this cracker amongst the barra. Exciting times for Morwell!

More Giant cod from Eildon! Tony Blackford fished with Trevor Holmes from Victorian Inland Charters on Sunday and landed this 90cm cod estimated at 40lb+ on his 5th cast of the morning. The boys also lost another fish of the same size at the boat as its last dive straightened the hooks.
