Young Max Moulday is this week’s “catch of the week” with his 16.5kg mulloway taken from near the Corals in Western Port. Fantastic fish Max, you will never forget this one!

PW hasn’t had a lot of phone service while in the remote Roper River NT but from the few pics he has sent us, the Barra are on the chew and he is making some good TV for future episodes of IFISH.
Owen Trebilco fished on Tuesday morning with some great success on the king george whiting. Owen fished the end of the Tooradin where he managed 17 whiting measuring from 34 to 44cm. Best baits were pipis and mussel.
Andrew Shortis headed out from Corinella on Saturday and was treated to a lovely mixed bag of calamari, whiting and salmon. The Port has been littered with good amounts of salmon which is a good sign if you are on the hunt for that big gummy!
Max Moulday from the Berwick Angling Club landed this beast of a mulloway early on Sunday morning. Max was fishing the run out tide near the corals in 5m of water when this 16.5kg silver ghost took a liking to a fresh yakka fillet. Great work Max!
Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters was back into the Western Port gummys and whiting throughout the week. Shaun has continued his good form in the Western Entrance on the gummys and reports that the Tortoise Head Bank has been producing good amounts of whiting.
Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters reports there are some quality gummys to 14kg and pinkies to 2kg coming from the western Entrance. Jayson has been fishing around the Buoy 12 area for most of his success.
Mathew Schemeczko pedaled his kayak out from Flinders on Monday morning. Mathew fished the run out tide where he was able to pick up this great bag of calamari using predominantly fluro coloured jigs in size 3.5.
Tackleworld Mornington staff member, Zack McMahon had some good success over the weekend after entering the Bass Strait Game Comp. Zach was able to get this beautiful mako aboard which put him in the top spot for the tag and release section of the competition. Great work Zach!

Staff member Jesse Matthias had a ball this week down at Balcombe Creek. Jesse managed plenty of quality bream to 35cm fishing an un-weighted scrub worm close to the structure.
Prior to heading to the Rip for the kingfish, Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters has been stopping by his regular snapper grounds to ensure his customers are going home with a good mixed feed. Love ya work Matt.
The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters has been slaying the Port Phillip whiting the past couple of weeks in the shallow water around Blairgowrie and Sorrento. This whiting bite is only going to improve once the netters are gone! Happy days!
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters was amongst a hot kingfish bite while at the Rip this week. Matt reports that almost all his fish are coming on metal jigs with Hayabussa Jack Eye’s standing out in the 150 gram size.
AROUND THE STATE
Regular customer, Phil Jones ventured down to Portland the other week and made the trip worth his while after boating this lovely bluefin. The tuna are in big numbers which is very promising for the upcoming season.
Scotty Gray reports it has been a hot bite this week on the west coast. The tuna have definitely fired up in the 30m line with plenty of big kingfish also amongst them. Scotty has had great success on Gomoku jigs and Rapala stick baits.
First time fishing and camping was a revelation for young Tyson Greenfield who with his Pop and Tackleworld staff member, Greg Smith landed his first Murray cod within 10 minutes of casting his first bait. Tyson went on to catch 2 more cod in an hour. Not a bad effort from the young fella! Great work mate!
Young Luke Marchetti had the day off school last Wednesday so he and his good friend, Cole headed down to Sugarloaf Reservior where they got stuck into the reddie action on spinners and worms.
Young Logan White nailed this cracking 61cm tiger flathead while out from Cape Paterson this week. Logan also managed a few smaller models which were destined for the dinner table. Great work Logan!
Harrison Sergejew's dream was to catch a Victorian kingfish and Harrison's father, Sasha was able to fulfill his sons wish on the weekend. Harrison and Sasha headed out from Wilsons Prom and the pair got stuck into the action while casting topwater soft plastics at the aggressive kingies. Great work fellas and well done Harrison!
George managed his first bream while fishing the Tambo River with his Dad. George was fishing just past the highway bridge and together he and his Dad went home with a great bag of fish.
Jayden Clay had a memorable weekend while at Lake Tyers this week. Jayden was working his soft plastic down a bank when this big girl came out and smashed it! Jayden reports that he battled this monster for 25 minutes on bream gear before finally scooping her into the net. The final measurement was 92cm. Well done Jayden!
AROUND THE COUNTRY
Alex Connelly and his mates have been stuck into the big reds over in the Spencer Gulf again this week. The boys report that metal jigs and soft plastics have been working quite well.
Chris found some top notch stripey trumpeter out from Strahan on the West Coast of Tassie this week. Trumpeter is renowned for their top quality flesh, yum yum!
The kingfish went nuts at Montague Island this week for the crew from Charter Fish Narooma. The fish have been schooled tightly and are great fun when you’re hooking up nearly every drop! Love ya work fellas.
