WESTERN PORT
HASTINGS

Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters had a fairly successful week on the Port. Keith has been fishing around the buoy 29 area out from Hastings and put his customers onto some table size beauties, including one for young Josh who broke in his brand new rod and reel. Skitzy reports that the fish have branched out across the Port. Squid has been the best bait.

Brett Jackson hooked into this massive red this week while fishing out of Hastings. She weighed in at 9.8kg! Well done Brett!

Young Lucas headed out with his Dad and Pop from Hastings this week and was chief net boy for the day! Lucas didn’t miss with the net and the trio landed 3 fish between 2.9 and 4.1kg. Pop was a little camera shy, so Lucas’ younger brother, Cameron stepped in for a happy snap.

Richard Linowsi popped into the shop on Wednesday afternoon for a weigh in and photo of his days catch. Before we had seen what Richard had caught, he told us it wasn’t very big, but when he lifted the lid of his enormous esky and pulled out this 10kg mulloway we thought that was a little modest! Richard had been fishing all night and throughout multiple tides in his hobie kayak and the hard yards produced the goods. Richard reports that he was fishing in 2 metres of water and fresh squid was the key.

Lisa landed this genuine 7kg snapper while fishing in 10m of water out from Corinella. Lisa reports that silver whiting was the bait of choice during the run out tide. This was LJ’s first real snapper after plenty of pinkies and she also dropped another much bigger fish!

ELIZABETH ISLAND

Chris Cherrett managed this 5.1kg snapper last Saturday while fishing the run in tide at Elizabeth Island. Chris also managed 3 other fish ranging from 2 to 4kg. Fresh squid was the best bait.

7 year old, Tahli was a very happy young fisher girl over the weekend when she caught her very first snapper on Saturday morning. Tahli was fishing near Rhyll and she has been planning her next trip ever since she got off the water!

Scott Cahoon got stuck into the snapper action at Rhyll this week and landed this lovely pair of reds weighing 4 and 5kg respectively.

Ben Tourtoulas pulled up a couple of quality pinkies while fishing the Brighton break wall this week. Ben’s fish measured 44 and 56cm and were both taken on squid that he caught earlier in the night.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters reports that there are plenty of snapper ranging from Mordialloc to Frankston and he had no troubles putting his customers onto them this week. Jayson had a young lad, Anthony hop aboard this week and he caught his first ever fish which was a lovely snapper. Awesome way to open the account! Jayson reports that the fish have been hitting most baits, but silver whiting, pilchards and squid have been the stand outs.

Matt Boulton from Fish On Fishing Charters reports that the snapper went spastic this week out from Chelsea. According to Matt, the best fishing has been in the morning before 8am. Pilchards and fresh squid have been the best baits.
CARRUM

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters found good numbers of fish out from Carrum this week. This fish was taken Thursday morning along with a couple more around the same size.

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters got back out on the bay this week in perfect conditions and nailed some healthy snapper for some happy clients. Keep up the good work Simmo!

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters put his clients onto the big reds again this week out from Carrum. Mitch has been steering away from the smaller school fish and has had some good success on the big girls!

Paul Azzopardi got amongst the snapper action last Thursday and landed this lovely fish in 15m of water out from Carrum. Paul reports that he headed out the night before and sounded up a stack of fish which he hit up the next morning. Silver whiting got the job done for Paul.

Mitcham Angling club member Dave Hilman landed this 6.4kg model out off Carrum on Wednesday using pilchard in 17m. This is a PB for Dave and he also managed few 2kg models.

FRANKSTON

Adam Walker called past the Mornington store this week and weighed in this lovely 6.5kg snapper which he caught in 18m off Frankston. Great fish Adam!

Dave Webb was fishing in 16m of water out from Frankston searching for the snapper but instead pulled up this big seven gill using 15lb mono and a 4000 sienna reel! Dave reports it definitely tested out his tackle!

MORNINGTON

Regular customer, Daniel Weeks has had a couple of hot sessions on the snapper out from Mornington this week. Weeksy has found fish stacked up on his sounder between 10 and 14m of water and has had no troubles enticing them to eat his soft plastics. Fish are ranging between 2 and 4kg.

Eildon has really fired over the past couple of weeks on the yellowbelly front with big river arm being a hotspot, however, this 54cm cracker was taken at Goughs Bay and released shortly after a quick photo.

Well done to good customer, Peter Ferguson who not only cracked the 20lb mark, but absolutely smashed it with this 10.33kg monster red taken at Port Welshpool last Friday. Port Welshpool is a spot often not talked about, but it is definitely home to some stonker fish! Well done Fergo.
BEMM RIVER

Berwick Angling Club held their annual Bemm River trip over the weekend and reports that it was a success. Anglers scored some good bream to 43cm and Travis Thorn caught 3 big lizards to 70cm on squidgy wrigglers and released them all after a quick happy snap.

Nicholas Shelverton managed his first brown trout of 44cm on a dry fly while fishing at Penstock Lagoon, Tasmanian Central Highlands this week. Great effort on fly, well done Nicholas!

Heath Bidgood smashed the yellowbelly on the Murrumbidgee this week landing 4 fish with the biggest measuring 50cm and weighing 2.5kg. Great work Heath!

Jimmy Chessum has had a stella week on the big browns at Lake Jindabyne with his biggest weighing 9lb! Jimmy has nailed multiple fish all in excess of 6lb. Well done mate!

NOOSA

Zoltan and his little girl, Jessie enjoyed some fishing while on their family holiday to Noosa this week. The pair managed some lovely spangled emperor, wrasse, cobia, flathead and some bream. Jessie was stoked with her catch!

Simon has been lucky enough to be enjoying the warm climate of Townsville and also the hot fishing it has to offer! Simon reports that he has been smashing both spanish mackerel and mack tuna while trolling diving hardbodies offshore. Great work Simon!

CABO, SAN LUCAS

Good customer, Ben Darose arrived home this week after a trip of a lifetime in Mexico chasing marlin and other pelagic’s in the Los Cabos billfish tournament. Benny, Chris, Charlie and Warren lived it up in style for a week celebrating Warren’s 40th. The boys landed plenty of marlin, sailfish and wahoo and also report that with a 100% strike rate, they would have landed in excess of 30 marlin, which the locals report is a poor season! Well done on a great trip fellas!

Paul is fishing off Tauranga, on New Zealand’s North Island, for what are reputedly the ‘biggest kings in the world’. Off nearby Mayor Island, Paul is with local guide Ben Pokaia, who knows all there is to know about this elusive species. There’s a big shock in store when an aggressive ocean predator pays a visit!

Paul and fishing mate Frank Milito put their kayaks in at Lake Tyers and with Frank’s local knowledge the boys are hoping they’re in for some serious Dusky action!
