TUNA
img
Daniel Bateman and Vince Afri landed this monster 120kg bluefin last weekend in some pretty average conditions at Portland. Let’s hope all this wind hasn’t pushed the big fish away! A fruit salad Revolver skirt did the job on this jumbo.

WESTERN PORT
MIDDLE SPIT
img
It may be winter, but the whiting are still being landed! The top end of the Spit has been fishing quite well but casting away from the boat up into the shallows is key!

QUAIL BANK
img
Quail bank seems to be the stand out spot on the calamari this week, mainly due to the strong winds as it was the only place anglers seemed to venture to, however, the quality of the squid are definitely worth while! Dark jigs are working well in the dirty water.

TOORADIN
img
Sawtells Inlet in Tooradin is a great place to get out of the house and wet a line. There are plenty of quality mullet near the bridge and can be fished at all parts of the tide. Chicken breast has been the bait of choice.

PORT PHILLIP BAY
PATTERSON LAKES
img
There are plenty of good bream being taken inside Patterson Lakes at the moment and it is a great spot to escape the wind! Grub style soft plastics are working well and fresh water yabbies are the go to for the bait guys.

MT MARTHA
img
Good friend of the shop, Tom Hughes managed some calamari from the rocks at Mt Martha this week in some less than favorable conditions. Great work Tom!

AROUND THE STATE
EILDON
img
Part time staff member, Paul Delisle and his son Rex headed up to Eildon on Sunday and managed some lovely pan sized rainbows on worms. The Pondage is a great place to fish this time of the year as you can park your car on the bank and wait in the warmth!

POWLETT RIVER
img
With the good amount of rain we have had, there are good numbers of estuary perch situated at the mouth of the Powlett River. Bass yabbies are by far the best bait!

LAKE TYERS
img
Lake Tyers has continued to produce good numbers of bream despite the dirty water and heavy flow. There seems to be a consistent amount of small fish around and the odd bigger fish are being landed on vibes.

AROUND THE COUNTRY
MERIMBULA
img
The amazing run of kingfish continued into this week with plenty of anglers landing 15kg+ fish landbased!

img
Local angler Terry Mulcahy and a few mates have persisted with fishing for the Kings after a couple of days of no fish earlier in the week. Looks like their back!
