It’s hard to go past young Lukas for this week’s “catch of the week”! Lukas landed this whopping 52cm King George whiting while fishing out from Point Leo with his parents this week. Some people go their lives without cracking the 50cm mark. Well done mate!

THE RIP

Nick Bailey, the Victorian Rep for Viva Fishing tackle headed out into The Rip with Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters to see what all the fuss was about. Nick and the boys caught 16 fish in one of the best Kingfish sessions of the year so far. Hayabusa jigs in 150g in blue and purple working a treat.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters found the Kings again this week while fishing The Rip. Matt reports that the greenbacks cannot get enough of those Entice Jigs!

Now this was an epic capture for Matt Cini! While jigging for Kingfish in The Rip, Matt from Reel Time had a huge school of tuna bust up beside the boat and they were all 20kg! Matt kept his cool and quickly changed a jig over to a deep diver which resulted in this beauty!

The boys from Sharkmen Fishing Charters picked up some quality local Kingfish this week. When the sounder lit up with typical Kingfish markings, live squid were sent down to them and absolutely demolished! Great work fellas!

Mason Schulze landed this 94cm King while fishing in some superb conditions just outside The Rip. Mason landed 3 fish all up and they were all taken on live squid and cuttlefish. Well done mate!

Apollo Bay fished exceptionally well for the Kingfish this week along with the good amounts of bluefin. Con reports that the kings were taken on live baits and jigs.

WILONS PROMONTORY

Michael Jack, Daniel Windsor and Ben Reinwald shot down to do a day trip at the Prom on Friday and were rewarded with this Epic 20kg king and a 27 kg School Shark. The boys also landed another king at 72cm. the kings were taken on live baits and the schooly was caught while doing a quick bottom Bash.

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters was back out amongst the gummy shark action in Western Port this week. Shaun has been seeing plenty of gumbos hauled aboard of a night and the ting are in force by day!

Jet Worsteling and his cousin Link Duncan made the most of the superb conditions on Friday and headed out onto beautiful Western Port with grandfather Greg. Jet and Link put a fair dent in the King George population. Jet reports a paternoster fished in 6 m of water was the go. Pipi and mussel were also the stand out baits.

One very proud 5 year old Lukas with his 52cm Whiting caught at Point Leo this week. Lukas was a very eager fisherman getting up at 3am on Saturday to get in early and it paid off.

Staff members David Kramer, Gerry Morsman and fiancé Skye headed down the Peninsula to target Cuttlefish last Saturday. In mint conditions, they managed 14 cuttles.

Amelia continued her good form out from Portarlington this week with her father. Amelia landed some good bags of whiting and also found some chunky flathead too!

Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters found good amounts of Portland tuna this week, a lot of boats found the tuna tough, but Matty pushed further east and had no problems locating bluefin. X-raps and small skirts worked well for Matty.

Staff members Kallan and David Kennedy had a successful morning at Portland on Thursday chasing the southern bluefin tuna. The boys marked up plenty of fish on the sounder in about 30m of water near Julia Reef and within no time had 3 fish in the boat and dropped 2! These 20kg fish were great fun on spin gear!

It was Leonie Slaninka’s first time fishing out of Portland on the hunt for her very first tuna. After an 11 hour day trolling, she was rewarded with this 20kg beauty! Great work Leonie.

Jordan Rouw managed this impressive capture while out on his kayak on Saturday. Jordan was fishing the Sea Sherpa kayak challenge at North Shore when he hooked up to this 20kg tuna and after a prolonged fight, managed to drag it into his kayak! Well done mate!

Joel Xuereb has been fishing Portland for the last week... His focus was chasing some fresh flake! Joel had a day to remember on Saltiga spin gear hooking 7 thresher sharks, landing 4 and keeping 1 for the table! The keeper fish went 73kg. Joel said watching these bullets jump was absolutely insane!

Con had some good fun on the bluefin while out from Apollo Bay this week. Apollo bay was on fire this week, bluefin were spotted inside the harbor and plenty of Kings landed too!

Staff member Lachlan Henstock was living It up at Echuca over the long weekend. Lachlan spent a couple of days aboard a houseboat and was able to throw a line in and even managed to land a couple of nice Murray cod. Lachy landed 3 fish to 67cm with mozzarella the stand out bait.

Igor ventured to the Eildon Pondage over the weekend and landed this cracking brown trout. Eildon Pondage has been producing some stonking trout over the last week. Great catch Igor.

Chris Brett landed this quality 52cm 3.68lb brown trout while fishing the Lower Pondage with a couple of mates. Chris and his friends landed 13 fish over 2 days! Great work fellas!

Justin Blythe must be the land-based gummy whisperer! Justin headed to Inverloch last week and before targeting the gumbos, managed some fresh pike from the rocks which was eventually turned into this beautiful specimen.

Here is the monster 27kg school shark that Michael Jack, Daniel Windsor and Ben Reinwald landed while chasing the Kings down at the prom. After the trio had landed a couple of solid Kingfish, they had a quick bottom bash which turned out successful.

Dave Johnston ventured down to Port Welshpool on the weekend and while fishing offshore, Dave landed this beast of a gummy weighing 18kg. Nice catch Dave, well done!

Harry Sergejew and his father Sash fished out from Refuge Cove on Sunday and the only way to describe the fishing was insane! Gummys, flathead and snapper were coming over the side all morning. Top work boys, it looks like the weather was nearly as good as the fishing!

Staff member Paul DeLisle fished Bemm River over the weekend and had some cracker sessions on the dusky’s and bream. Paul reports the entrance is closed and the fish are on !

Mick Ott enjoyed some fantastic kayak fishing while down at Lake Tyers this week. Mick had been targeting the flatties, but kept running into the problem that they were too big to keep! Mick also landed this solid 2kg trevally which gave him a fair work out!

It looks like Darcy Clifton has been getting plenty of fishing done! Darcy has been fishing along the east coast and here is a lovely trevally he landed at Lake Tyers on a squidgy wriggler. Well done mate!

Lloyd and Jacqui McMillin have been fishing up around Lake Tyers the last few days and have been getting some great flathead with several fish over 70cm and lots around the 35-45cm mark. Plastics are working well but the bigger fish seem to like live mullet. Great work guys!

Daniel Pratt landed this 85cm dusky flathead while fishing the Mill Point area at Lake Tyers. Daniel reports that his flatty took a whole pilchard and was released after the photo.
