Customer Pete headed down to Flinders Pier this week and landed 3 very big calamari. The biggest reportedly weighed in at 3kg. Size 3.5 jigs did the damage in silver and gold foils.

Paul Rowe fished on Sunday after getting himself some 8/0 Instinct Octopus hooks for chasing big snapper. And big snapper it was! This was Pauls PB.

Ken “the chef” Parker fished off Silverleaves last weekend and landed this nice red that went 82cm and just on 9kg. Ken dropped a couple of others and said the bite was just on the start of the run out tide and Port Phillip Bay pilchards were the gun bait.

Alan Heib fished again this week out of Corinella and landed this cracker fish of just under 7kg. Fishing the end of the run out tide, Alan reports yakka as bait was once again the stand out.

Cameron Johnson fished out from Corinella over the weekend and landed this fantastic 9.5kg snapper. The fish took a pilchard.

Just another day on the Port for gun fisho Ron Smith. This week he got stuck into some lovely snapper and a couple of very nice gummy sharks. Fresh baits were the key once again this week for Ron and crew.

Tom Sanza went out for a squid bash on Saturday and found the weed beds off Rye very productive. Using a white IKA jig in size 2.5, Tom got his bag easily.

Good customer Pete fished the shallow waters around Mt Martha rocks on Friday morning to land a great bag of calamari and also a cuttlefish.

James Skelton and Ash Hewston fished off Mornington during the week and landed these cracking snapper that ranged from 5kg to 6.5kg. The boys were using pilchards in 19 metres of water.

Gerry took his mate Alan out for a fish on Friday afternoon and they ended up with 3 snapper. Fishing in 16m they used squid heads, pilchards and silver whiting for bait.

Jayson Turner has once again been getting amongst the snapper action in Port Phillip Bay. Jayson reports pilchards and silver whiting have been getting lots of bites from snapper to 6kg in 18 metres of water this week and that there are a lot of bait schools around. Water temperature in the area was 15.2 degrees Celsius.

Wednesday was a solid afternoon for Matt Cini and crew of Reel Time Fishing Charters. They managed a good bag of fish up to 5kg fishing out of Carrum.
CHELSEA
Geoff Bailey fished on Sunday morning off Chelsea in 12.5 metres of water and managed snapper from 4-8kg all on silver whiting. Geoff reports the water was 15.3 degrees celcius and the most productive time was the start of the run out tide.
ST KILDA
Staff member Mitch Chapman took the kayak up the top of Port Phillip Bay to get amongst the snapper using soft plastics. Mitch landed fish to 3kg and dropped a couple also. Squidgies Whipbaits in Pilly colour were stand out.

73 year old Arthur Hannah made the trip form Portarlington to Toolondo this week. Arthur landed a buck brown of 2.17 kg and his mate Pete landed a beautiful hen estimated at 2.5 kg. Both fish were taken on Norries spoon tail shads.

Rhys Creed fished Blowering Dam, NSW this week in very ordinary weather chasing yellowbelly. On his 5th cast to a snag with a standard 5/8oz Mudguts Spinnerbait , a fish smacked it and took off. Realising it was a cod and being closed season, Rhys released the fish after a quick snap and measure, with the fish going 106cm and would have to be pushing 70-80lb. His spinner bait was in the green, black and orange color.

Frank Milito from East Gippsland Charters has been putting his clients onto plenty of nice Bream this week. Hard bodies and soft plastics are working a treat and Frank reports the next few weeks should provide plenty of action on the Estuary Perch and big Flathead.

Shimano Australia’s Chris Cleaver has been spending plenty of time on the water in and around Sydney this week, focusing on Snapper and Mulloway on lures. Chris hasn’t found it too difficult to find fish with Squidgies Whip Baits and Flick Baits being the best lures.
